And then consider the sad and wretched state of the NHS. I actually now tell people not to rely on it and to go private if they can. I wish doctors and medics would do the same. I have to disagree with this comment. I sauntered into A&E at Weston Hospital last week with significant pain in my knee. Within 90 minutes I was on my way having been assessed by the triage team, seen by a doctor, had an x-ray, discussed the result with the doctor, fitted with a splint and crutches and promised a phone call the next day from the fracture clinic for a follow up appointment. Phone call came as promised. Appointment next week 5 days after initial consultation. There are plenty of "good outcome" accounts of treatment received by the NHS, unfortunately they do not garner as much attention as the negative ones. The vast majority of people do not have the luxury of being able to go private, when you are usually treated by NHS Consultants anyway.

Personally, I reckon the small minority of fans not attending matches because of JB are dwarfed by hundreds of younger fans now attending because of JB - I can only assume that they may well view JB as a bit of a role model (thats testosterone for you!) and if I was two hundred. years younger I would join them

I originally waited nine months for a referral to a specialist, which pre-pandemic was normally assumed to occur within three months of the initial referral. On being referred, I was informed that the specialist wasn't actually a general specialist and could only check my throat but not my stomach or provide a diagnosis or suggest appropriate treatment. He has now referred me to another specialist would will no doubt check another part of my body before referring me to another specialist. At the time of writing, the whole process has taken a year and I estimate it will take at least 15-16 months to get a proper diagnosis, let alone receive effective treatment. I should perhaps consider myself fortunate. Mental health services in the NHS, which were already dire before the pandemic, now appear to have collapsed completely. In terms of mental health care, the NHS has long been unfit for purpose and is routinely failing patients. My personal impression has always been that the NHS is good for things where they can patch you up and sent you away - that is, where the problem is relatively self-evident or easy to identify (broken leg, sprained ankle etc). Anything more (and I speak from extensive previous experience) is too exacting, time-consuming and beyond the abilities of medical practitioners to effectively identify, let alone treat. I've gone from having a very poor prognosis, and being "unlikely to survive", to the Oncologist being hopeful that after my scan in December I will be able to be moved to routine observation. That`s really good news, BG. I raise my early morning cup of coffee to you.

This is something i have discussed with the various wizards at the two hospitals i attend. I always make sure i leave a positive review after i have been seen. Most only ever leave a review when they are angry and then it looks like certain hospitals aren’t very good. People are quick to criticise but not so, when it come to leaving positive comments. I am really pleased to hear your latest news, delighted in fact. Just goes to show that not everything said is definite.
