Without checking I think that Keith Curle played on the wing and scored on his debut the first home game of the season against Chester 81 or 82 ? I thought he played as a full back at sometime. Didn`t he score the winning goal for us in the Glos Cup Final, at Trashton? Early 80s. Or am I just misremembering? Lot of cider flowed under the bridge since then.

Unless Oldham are somehow strangely even more s*** than us, I can't see anything other than another defeat for Bristol Rovers-Nil. They are worse than us. 6 points before Sunday is not out the question. But you can get win and points unconvincingly. Against such weak opposition all facets of our game should show up well, quite possibly the moment we turn it around and build some momentum. We should look solid and convincing today. But there will be harder tests come, Bradford and Newport in October, Orient next month, looking at how some of the fancied sides now have their wheels turning.

I turned down a free ticket for tonight, in the seats of the East stand or whatever it’s called now ? I honestly didn’t want to have to rush to be ready and then potentially watch another 90 odd minutes of the dross being served up. It’s just not fun and maybe it will help us. We always seem to win, when I’m not there

Oldham were one of the founder members of the Premier League, and survived relegation in its first season. They dropped into L2 for the first time in 47 years in 2018, after 21 consecutive years in L1, the only league with 7 out places. They play at Boundary Park I have not heard of any of their current players. In 1989/90, they were FA Cup semi finalists and League Cup runners up, the following year they won Division 2 and were FA cup semi finalists again in 1993/94. They last played each other in 2017, a 1-1 draw. Rovers have overall won 25 times, Oldham 20, with 15 draws. Both have lost their first 2 league games this season. Our biggest win was 3-5 away, we have won 4-0 once, 4-1 & 4-3 twice and have had a 4-4 draw, biggest losses have been 4-0 & 4-1. Back in the 1920's & 30's Andrew Wilson managed at BRFC & Oldham for 5 years each. Our old centre back Keith Curle is their current incumbent in the hot seat. Is an incumbent like a big cucumber ? 😱😂🤣

He was full back when he moved into the higher leagues and was timed at under 11 seconds for 100 metres, the fastest full back in all of the leagues. I still don’t understand how he got to play for England though, our manager must have had a bet on that 😂😂

Didn’t Keith Curle start hid footballing career at the dark side ? I will always remember the 80’s and the three who were seemingly always in the same nightclubs. Kite, Curle and Holloway. Used to be a good laugh being around them, in those halcyon days. The joy of Busby’s and being young and full of hope and laughter.

Could have gone swimming for the second time today, which would be fun. Tonight won't be.

Correct, September 20th, 1983. The joy of Busby’s and being young and full of hope and laughter. I still like a laugh. But the youth and hope have long since departed.

Well he is a striker, so that’s good news. On the terrace and not feeling the confidence I has at 3pm last Saturday. Be nice to see a win, well a goal anyway.

The behind the scenes shenanigans is sure to have an effect on the players.

The behind the scenes shenanigans is sure to have an effect on the players. Some nice attacking play from Rover so far - maybe it's galvanised them?
