As I said, I am only an armchair psychologist.
But it’s pretty much a no brainier how this develops. When Barton has us rocking, and is sacked, and we don’t go up, every Barton hater who got him the sack gets the blame for every crap result week, month, season we spend in this naff division.
The Barton haters didn’t want him here in the first place, he would have got us out of this without the sacking, our continued presence in this crap league will be their fault, the anger will be greater next season than this season. That’s how it works, isn’t it. How else are the English hated for shipping the potatoes out of Ireland and starving peoples mouths as much now as 150 years ago.
Surely love for the club and desire to see it perform at higher level than this league, has to trump any individual dislike for a person? Outside the mouthy commentariat in the media, loads of people happy to have Barton, he is given keynote speeches at universities, the national secular society happy to have him as a patron saint. Etc etc.
Looking ahead to all this bad blood getting worse, I am beginning to think, for the sake of this club in the medium to long term, it may be best if Barton gets a bad day in court, but the club sticks with him.

But everything feared in terms of reputation embarrassment is pretty much done, there is surely very little in that area to gain from sacking Barton, and it could cost us the important bounce back promotion and set Gashead on Gashead for perhaps generations.
That is just not worth it now, if it comes out court that way?

Part of the reason for this thread is draw the Barton talk and what is only going to be growing speculation of his sacking out of the Match Day threads, gives us half a chance just to ignore this thread and that stuff if you want to focus on football side of things in the match day threads and those threads about players and signings. This thread has a base line that is going to become the talking point in the coming weeks - Rovers sacking toxic turd Barton whilst the team, as Pundits and Bookies expect, are doing very well - perhaps even in the top three. I’m convinced already the Reset has gone well, summer recruitment has been excellent (Barton haters just have to bite their tongue on that fact). Also after the 5 at back dirge to end last season, management are going adventurously for it from the off this season. However, some fans putting pressure on owner after the alleged wife beating incident, and the clubs clumsy initial reply, Wael sowed a seed. His public statement made it explicitly clear, no ifs buts or wriggle room, if either court case convicts Barton, he will be sacked. Now if we think things have been divisive and acrimonious so far, this is nothing compared to what will come when Barton Rovers are going great, a large part of Rovers fan base feeling affinity with him, we have been starved for years of the sort of excitement of top 3 in December. And, as certainly seems possible in the Stendhal case, Barton is convicted. There is no war uglier or with longer term repercussions than Civil War. After the English Civil War for example, the Roundheads went on to become the Whig Party, and the Cavaliers the Tory Party. Voting in the US also followed civil war lines for more than a century. Casting Barton out as his reset and the season is going brilliantly will never make sense to probably more than half rovers most hard core support. For example, one argument the Sheffield United fans made was what’s the point their club, who’s fans love him and him them, casting Evan’s out only for him to bang goals in somewhere else, it’s makes no sense, Anyone who thinks things soon return to normal once Barton is gone may be proved very naive. He will be found Not Guilty. Guarantee it, and so he will continue to be our manager

Cheer might be too much Epping, some will though. The majority will accept WAQs decision for JB to stay if found guilty.Imo. It would make Wael look completely ridiculous. He's already stated what he's going to do, immediately, in the event of a guilty verdict being returned. For what it's worth I predict Not Guilty in both cases. That doesn't equate to innocent BTW, it's the equivalent of being asked 'did he do it?' and the reply coming back 'We don't know'. In the eyes of the law, you are either Guilty, or Not Guilty.

Because, when it comes to sustaining festering hatred down through the centuries, the Irish are champions of the world. I’m not agreeing with you that festering hatred from history is confined to just one nation of people, for example who can forget the certain rail carriage so you have to include the Germans, but you are rather agreeing with me, rather than fade over time and generations, perceived injustices rather than forgotten can in fact be just as emotive so many years after they happened. Such as an unnecessary sacking of toxic turd Barton just as he has turned us round and in frame for promotion. on the Irish example I used, just to ensure we are thinking of the same facts, a blight hit potatoes, a million people died, over a decade over 60% of the Irish population. Quite a massive event really. Do you think if Ireland had a hegemony over England during such a famine and during it shipped food and what potatoes there were out of England to Ireland, the English would have forgotten all about it by now? and of course, that rail carriage was not forgotten. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compiègne_WagonWhilst it sat there in a museum, all good in the world, there was a festering grudge out there. I don’t invent these rules, just opinion this is how the world works. And this is the whole point of this thread really, just flagging up this is how the world works. The Barton Haters who want Barton out, and Barton is sacked whilst the club is flying on course for promotion, it needs to be justified or else it creates festering division. Just so both sides of the argument are aware of that. The horrid division between fans, it doesn’t end with Barton sacked with the teams going well, that just makes it worse.

After the blistering end of window, where everyone is giving toxic turd credit, for the business done, THIS is back on the horizon now. The team flying when toxic turd gets slapped wrist from a court.
top 7 in December and looking real challengers, he’ll be unsackable. Won’t he? It would take a pretty serious sentence, the sort of which unlikely from either charge, for a successful toxic turd to be relieved of duty.
So he’s not going to be leaving that way any time soon. And on field success from his reset squad means he won’t be leaving that way anytime soon.
But the main concern from Barton Haters was he would bring bad publicity to the club? That’s proved true to a point, but played out pretty much now and built in isn’t it. So provided the team clicks and climbs the table, It’s Barton Rovers for the foreseeable future.

Form is temporary
Does one win in plenty, against a depowered Cheltenham, count as 'form'?

Surely love for the club and desire to see it perform at higher level than this league, has to trump any individual dislike for a person? Outside the mouthy commentariat in the media, loads of people happy to have Barton, he is given keynote speeches at universities, the national secular society happy to have him as a patron saint. Etc etc. 1. Some of us have rather enjoyed the fact that our club hasn't traditionally been cast into the 'basket of deplorables' along with Millwall, Liverpool, Chelsea, Villa, 1982 etc etc, well guess what, that's where we are now. 2. You are aware that plenty of speakers are invited to Oxford just to grab headlines? Barton made a complete fool of himself in that address, go watch it, but here are some others that they've invited previously, Katie Price, Kermit The Frog, Ron Jeremy (yes, the porn star), MC Hammer, The Cheeky Girls, OJ Simpson. Still think it's some kind of badge of honour? Still not convinced? They invited Mary Teresa Bojaxhiu. What's that, you've never heard of her? You probably know her better as Mother Teresa, a truly evil Albanian virgin who claimed to believe that suffering was a pathway to God, and sat on a fortune, much of it garnered from corrupt and dictatorial sources, whilst people in her care died prolonged agonised deaths whilst denied even basic medical care. Being invited to talk there doesn't count for a whole lot, in my opinion.

I hope you can find solace in this WAQ fib Epping. It's an unconditional statement Bas, let's see what happens if Punchy is convicted. Just remember, 'Not guilty' and 'Innocent' aren't nececerally the same thing. Anyway, I wouldn't have wanted him anywhere near Rovers even without his latest 2 court cases, so no, after these 2 hearings we don't 'move on'.
