Close Day 4India 245 all out, Pujara 66, Pant 57, Stokes 4-33, Broad & Potts 2 each. England 259-3 (57 overs) Lees 56, Crawley 46, Root 76no, Bairstow 72no, Bumrah 2-53. England need 119 runs to win, should be a breeze, both not out batters should get their 100's. Are you quite mad? England Test team, and "should be a breeze", should never occupy the same post code, never mind the same sentence. If we win by half a wicket, I`ll be delighted.
Very good, yes i must be mad thinking it will be a breeze, but hey we have a management / captain set up now that are breaking records, another will be had today too.

" both not out batters should get their 100's." - You know who we will blame if this doesn't happen don't you ! You do know where the Mess Webley and the bottle of whisky are stored if you need them? First off a big shout out to the ECB and the groundsmen. The Test pitches this summer have been magnificent. Offering good batting conditions where we have seen a shedload of runs but still offering something to the bowlers. Even on the fifth days the wickets have held up and not become minefields. Nobody wants to see Test matches finish inside three days, and these wickets have ensured that the games last much longer and therefore become more enthralling. These games against NZ and India have been exactly what Test match cricket needed to combat the T20/One Day formats. Fantastic entertainment. Test match cricket is not dead. Next, the new mentality being attempted by England. You can see what they are trying. Remember it was probably a year ago (or so) that England batted out against NZ when offered 270 to win the Test? How boring was that? Historically, when a team were presented with a largish total in the fourth innings they would 'bat carefully', take runs when they could, and wait to see how the innings developed. This allowed the fielding team to set an attacking field with many players in catching positions as the batsmen were not really looking at scoring runs (as such). In effect, this increased the chances of getting out. The new England approach is to attack and score quickly. This forces the fielding team to take fielders away from catching positions to stem the flow of runs and in effect, reducing the chances of the batsmen getting out. It's not rocket science, but before now no team has had the nerve to attempt it. This appears to be England's 'new way'. They are attempting to change the way/attitude/mentality that has historically been the case. Look at yesterday as a prime example. The England openers came out and India set an attacking field. They knocked up a 100 run partnership in 114 balls. Fielders were in attacking positions leaving gaps everywhere in the field. Suddenly, England were back in the game and India were on the back foot. It will not work every time, and in some cases will end in complete disaster but you have to applaud and support what England are attempting to do. This last morning will be epic, no matter which way the game goes. Another full house on day 5 of a Test match. That doesn't happen very often nowadays. Been 4 brilliant Tests. T20 cricket definitely has it`s place, ie, not on my television, but the ebb and flow of the 5 day game, is where it`s at as far as I`m concerned. Off up to London in an hour. iPhone fully charged, to keep abreast of events at Edgbaston.
Good for you. Those Big Issue's don't sell themselves do they !

I'm in work so I will fire up my Kindle which has a very nice VPN on it, go through my companies guest wi-fi and use a trusted friends Sky Go account, and watch everything. I also work with five cricket mad Indians, so the banter will be in full swing.

Here we go. England still have Root, Bairstow and Stokes but they have to get the majority of the 119 needed to win as we do have a long tail. Jimmy Anderson to hit the winning runs with a reverse sweep? You heard it here first ! PS - If that were to happen I'd probably wet myself

Well it was a breeze after all, Joe Root 142no and Jonny Bairstow 114no knocked them off in less than 20 overs to win by 7 wickets and tie the series 2-2.
It was England's highest successful pursuit in Test cricket and the ninth-largest in the history of the game.
Strangely, given the magnitude of the result, the fifth morning was almost anticlimactic.
Edgbaston was far from full despite all of the available free tickets being taken.
England's next series is with South Africa in August, while an entirely different squad under new white-ball captain Jos Buttler plays the first of three T20s against India on Thursday.

We seem to bat better, on the 4th and 5th days of Test matches. Logic is being turned on it`s head.

Thursday 7th July 6pm - International Twenty20 Match - Venue: The Ageas Bowl, Southampton - England v India.
New white-ball captain Jos Buttler says England will continue to be "really aggressive and not afraid of failure" under his leadership.
Former vice-captain Buttler, 31, took over from Eoin Morgan last week after the 50-over World Cup-winning skipper retired from international cricket.
His first series in charge is three Twenty20 internationals against India, starting at the Ageas Bowl on Thursday.
"There's not much at the moment needs changing," Buttler told BBC Sport.
"I see the game in exactly the same way as Eoin."

Can`t see anything in between.

7.7.22 - International twenty20 Match - Toss: India won the toss and decided to bat.
India 198-8 (20 overs) - H Pandya 51, S Yadav 39, M Ali 2-26, Jordan 2-23.
England 148 all out, M Ali 36, Brook 28, Jordan 26no, H Pandya 4-33.
India win by 50 runs.
England lost their first match under new white-ball captain Jos Buttler as Hardik Pandya inspired India to a dominant 50-run victory in the first Twenty20 at the Ageas Bowl.
After his side were set a challenging target of 199, Buttler was out for a first-ball duck, bowled by a Bhuvneshwar Kumar inswinger.
Hardik then removed Dawid Malan for 21, Liam Livingstone for another duck and Jason Roy for a tortured four from 16 balls, all in his first seven deliveries.
England were 33-4 after 6.1 overs and could not recover as they were bowled out in the final over for 148.
All-rounder Hardik finished with 4-33 to add to his 51 from 33 balls - the highest score in India's 198-8.

Another impressive fact is that England bowled them out and Stokes didn't even have a ball !
