I’ve just opened my fourfourtwo season preview, I can post what they think here.
4th. Behind FGR, Bradford and Newport, ahead Exeter, Tranmere, Salford, Leyton Orient and Mansfield.
On the preview page they philosophise, the way out of Div 2 “history suggests the ability to build on strong foundations laid down by A popular manager is key.” The magazine praises our summer recruitment, particularly playmaker Paul Coutts and stopper Mark Hughes.
Anyone seen any other expert predictions from mags or sites

As promised in this thread, I am crunching all the predictions in my Alis Propriis Volat - Mega Matrix Superbus!
Up up and away!
Predicted final table Mirror Super Computer Fourfourtwo BetVictor 1. Salford Newport Exeter 2. Gas Bradford FGR 3. Mansfield FGR Newport 4. Forest Green Gas Mansfield 5. Bradford Exeter Bradford 6. Exeter Salford Walsall 7. Leyton Orient Tranmere Stevenage 8. Tranmere Orient Salford 9. Northampton Mansfield Gas 10. Port Vale Northampton Port vale 11. Carlisle Port Vale Tranmere 12. Newport Stevenage Harrogate 13. Rochdale Harrogate Orient 14. Colchester Rochdale Northampton 15. Walsall Walsall Carlisle 16. Swindon Carlisle Colchester 17. Oldham Barrow Sutton 18. Harrogate Crawley Crawley 19. Scunthorpe Sutton Rochdale 20. Crawley Town Oldham Hartlepool 21. Hartlepool Colchester Barrow 22. Stevenage Hartlepool Swindon 23. Barrow Swindon Scunthorpe 24. Sutton Scunthorpe Oldham
What leaps out? They all have Bradford, Exeter, Forest Green in top six.
(Exeter have 16yr olds playing for them, they are not finishing above our real men)
In where they place Newport and Swindon, the Mirror supercomputer is out of step with these other pundits. Has the Mirror got Metal Mickey out the back of a scrap yard?
There now follows post to the specific intelligence’s, human, artificial, and those at the Daily Mirror.
In summary I have discerned a theme, common theme is praising the great work we have done in recruitment. The Guardian salivates over our recruitment. Fourfourtwo gushes. Gab Sutton has it as a side already good enough for automatic “The task this summer has been to sign leaders, so it is hardly surprising that the first four additions – controller Paul Coutts, ball-winner Sam Finley, defensive organiser Mark Hughes and left-sided defender Nick Anderton – had all been named captain previously in their respective careers. The latter two have been brought in to provide much-needed guidance for Alfie Kilgour and Cian Harries, who remain talented defenders despite their roles in a rudderless Rovers rear-guard last term; towering centre-back Connor Taylor adds to the collection on loan from Stoke. Further forward, Aaron Collins and Harvey Saunders sign from Forest Green and Fleetwood while Luke Thomas joins on loan from Barnsley, with the trio plus Hanlan all being quick, willing runners.”
It looks like rewarding 9 months ahead for Rovers, everyone getting what they want. Those that want to see us bounce back in the top 3, we are heavily tipped for just that. Those who want to see B***** sacked are likely to get that wish and Rovers back in league 1 if this side the sacked B***** Built is as good as the pundits say it is.

I’ve just opened my fourfourtwo season preview, I can post what they think here. 4th. Behind FGR, Bradford and Newport, ahead Exeter, Tranmere, Salford, Leyton Orient and Mansfield. Honestly can`t see us finishing that high. I reckon you`d get a more accurate prediction from Viz.

Honestly can`t see us finishing that high. I reckon you`d get a more accurate prediction from Viz. Fourfourtwo go to press on theirs a bit early to be honest, but everywhere you look this week there’s pundits and experts for bookmakers loving our recruitment and calling us for automatic promotion, placing us even higher than fourfourtwo. it looks like B***** has actually known exactly what was needed and has gone out and done it. It’s exciting being highly rated, and our new signings highly rated by all the pundits. I’m only reporting what I’m finding, but the only thing that could hold us back is slow gelling period, if we are top after 12 you could pretty much say we are up.

There’s another factor here. There are such things as tough start, balanced start, and easy fixtures to get you off to a flyer and in motion, just like there are tournament groups of death. Our fixtures for the first twelve last season could hardly have been more unrelenting, and that in turn makes the odd one against unfancied side more pressure not to slip up.
Our opening fixtures this season are almost like a rocket launcher.
Stevenage, Oldham, Barrow, Crawley, Hartlepool, look how completely unfancied they are in our Mega Matrix.
What a chance for a flyer! Even if Mansfield and Exeter trips are tricky, it’s by no means a loss, 15-21 points out of the first 21! Everything buoyant, scalps in the belt, strikers off the mark, self belief defence after cleanies.

I hope you`re right. After last season, I`ll believe we made good signings only when I see them perfoming on the pitch.

I guess we can all support the players in the forthcoming season regardless of B*****. However, if this season is a success on the field it will be tainted by the circus of the last 18-months.

I always think that it is pure guesswork before a ball is kicked in a new season, I reckon we shall just have to get the first dozen or so games under our collective belts before we can seriously assess all of the runners and riders !

A shame that Oddschecker tipster hasn't gone to press yet. Last season he tipped Rovers to get relegated at 8-1 and Cheltenham to win the Division at 16-1... Oddschecker general best odds for League 2 winner: Salford 6-1 Bradford 10-1 Rovers 12-1 Mansfield 12-1 FGR / Exeter 14-1 Orient/Tranmere 16-1 The most 'popular' bets are Bradford, Salford, Orient, Mansfield, Colchester.

Very interesting reading - thanks for taking the time to post the information and the links emperorsuperbusMansfield is a tough starting point, I expect us to be up around the play-off places after 15 games, and hopefully push for an automatic place from there.

I quite enjoy your posts Emperor, even though (on average) I can only understand about half of them!. Which half don’t you understand? All pundits remark how astute our signings are when previewing this division. Many pundits and bookies tip us for automatic. 5 of our first 7 are against sides tipped to be around or in relegation zone. Manager has been given power to bring in virtually a new first 11, so no problem that score this time round, that score. Managers working with someone else’s signings looking like main reason for last years failure.

I am just hoping that the new players gel and that things go well, I do think that a couple more playes are needed (right back and striker) loans would be ok.

Thanks superbus, good work. Yes it all looks good, on paper. I’ll wait until I see them play. It looks a more balanced recruitment this year compared to last year but we’ll only know when the actual matches start. UTG!
