The only two possible reasons I can find not to suspend Barton are as follows. Firstly, if he was not forthcoming to the club about being arrested and/or charged, and so he should simply be removed instead. Secondly, because to suspend him for being charged with and to be tried for violent crime is undermined by having employed him knowing he was already charged with and to be tried for violent crime. This argument has logic, but insufficient weight for me. The above arguments may be in some ways persuasive, but the damage being done by not suspending him now seems another overwhelming argument for so doing. He is legally innocent until proven guilty, so may be suspended until trial, when he can be removed if found guilty (as Al Qadi has now promised) or retained as not guilty in law. I believe strongly that for decency and dignity, and for the good of the club, and possibly even for the good of the team, Barton should be suspended until trial, unless he was not forthcoming, or there are other reasons for his permanent removal instead.

I'd suggest three wins from however many games would be grounds for his instant dismissal, if the hierarchy was so minded.
It's not like he's presented any non-rhetorical evidence he's capable of turning it around.
I am surprised he hasn't been suspended. For me it is a moral failing at the top of the club. And yes, he's innocent until proven guilty, just as he is on the other one, and will be on the next one.

Absolutely, someone has been driven away from their club by Barton's life story and Wael's disastrous judgement, but that person has found a way to produce a positive outcome from it. I'm proud of that person and humbled by his/her gesture. |

Maybe Wael is looking at the bigger picture. Barton has formed a good bond with the players, they have bought into his way of doing things, his training methods etc. He has made things behind the scenes more professional, and has brought in specialist staff, such as the strength and fitness guy, who is very well spoken of by the players. Happy, well trained and disciplined players may be more likely to get good results on the pitch when the season starts.
At the end of the day, whatever we may think of him, Wael is the person in charge, we can rant and say "we can't carry on like this", "the club has to do this, that or the other" - the reality is we aren't the ones holding the purse strings.

For me, this is a tough one.
Things I am 100% clear on:
If guilty then immediate sack. No question.
If offence occurred at work. Immediate suspension. No question. Probable sack soon after.
If wife pressing charges. Immediate suspension. No question. Probable sack soon after.
Things I am less clear on:
The alleged offence took place in his personal time. Should that affect his work life whilst not convicted?
We do not know the full facts of the case. It is hard to judge with no facts. We judge using emotion, which cannot be good.
We do not know why the wife is not pressing charges. Could be fear, could be something else.
Conclusion:
I do not like the division this has caused. Such division we did not even see during the great mid 2000s boardroom split’ or the relegation out of the football league. That division alone makes me want to say yes, but it is with a heavy heart. I am currently on the fence, and have not voted yet.
The trouble is that if you suspend JB, and he is found not guilty on both charges, how would he be able to come back?
We might just have to let him carry on, and suffer the abuse that he surely will receive.

I'm only going from what I've been told by people who work with him everyday. Sort-of like Mrs Barton does No - he doesn't spend a lot of time at home since taking a job in Bristol. I don't know how much he tells her about the changes he's made since joining Rovers, so can't comment on that. |

That £400 might pay a third of a week's wages for one of our younger first team squad members. We're back to being told that we should be grateful that Wael is losing far more than any Rovers owner has ever managed before. Nope. Anyway, it speaks volumes that you say that rather than join everybody else and thank the person for supporting a fantastic cause. |

It will be interesting to see how the behaviour of fans at the stadium compares to opinions recorded on various forums and social media sites. I have no idea, although the younger element seem to be in favour of JB, and they tend to have the loudest voices. I also wonder how many of the people who are saying they won't attend again, do actually attend regularly - not suggesting that's anybody on here is a non attender, but I've known people have a good old moan about results in the past, and, when you get down to the nitty gritty, they haven't watched the team for at least 3 years. |
