From OS:
Some important information ahead of the return of supporters for the Gas' home friendly against Swansea City this Saturday.
While the club navigates the return of fans after a year and a half without them, some processes have been put in place to ensure our events meet government guidelines, and supporters feel comfortable and safe at the Mem.
Firstly, in line with the club's pursuit of a safe and secure environment, a Code of Conduct has been constructed.
It is essential that you fully understand and agree to the code of conduct prior to purchasing a ticket and attending the fixture.
Failure to do so may also jeopardise the club’s ability to host future fan-attended fixtures at the Memorial Stadium.
We ask all supporters returning to the stadium this weekend, or for any future games, to have a thorough read of our Code of Conduct HERE.
Requirements for Entry -
Ticket holders will need proof of a negative Lateral Flow Test (LFT), via a text message or email from NHS Test and Trace.
The test needs to be taken within 48 hours of the fixture.
Or proof of full vaccination - both doses received at least 14 days prior to the match (demonstrated via the NHS App)
We also ask supporters to have the Track and Trace app on their phone, to allow supporters to be informed if they are likely to have been exposed to Covid-19 while at the game.
Digital Tickets -
All tickets purchased online are now digital, print at home tickets.
You will receive a printable PDF via email with a download button giving you the option to either print at home or save a digital ticket to your Google Pay/ Apple Wallet, which can be scanned to provide entry to the stadium at the turnstiles.
It’s important to take note of the turnstile listed on your match ticket - as the turnstiles number is allocated to manage the flow of supporters entering the ground.
If you are yet to purchase your ticket for any of the pre-season fixtures, please ....... purchase online.
For a step-by-step guide on registering, activating and linking online ticket accounts - please click HERE.
Please note - for these pre-season fixtures, we can only sell tickets to accounts with previous purchase history.
Masks -
It is down to fans personal preference whether fans wish to wear a mask whilst at the stadium.
Everyone at Bristol Rovers hopes supporters have a fantastic first trip back to the Memorial Stadium, after an absence that has been far, far too long. Please follow the guidelines, stafe [sic] safe, and enjoy the match!

The "Code of Conduct" is well worth a read... There are a number of unenforceable rules as well as a counting to three / four error. On a serious note, I really hope they are serious about the entry restrictions. That would put my mind at rest and make me happier attending football if I know that everyone is either vaccinated or recently tested.

With such third wave high community rates, we must anticipate the more social we are in community the more chance we will have of getting it. Do we mind bouts of it is the question. Double jabs don’t mean we are immune to anything but kryptonite, we can still get Covid, get pretty ill, have side effects. Certainly vaccines helps reduce risk of hospitalisation and death, by quite a lot, vaccines really do work, but not removes it from the equation. Vaccines also reduce risk of transmission, but not remove transmission. It’s not just the jabless spreading and suffering this variant (and increasingly treated as second class citizens). Even just a bout of it you manage at home yourself can leave you permanently with no taste or smell or with erectile dysfunction. It’s not just illness vascular, it’s cardio, in fact it likes any organic bits of you, It can damage bits of you. And with its transmissibility and how quickly it can get people into full blown pneumonia (old, overweight, bad blood pressure) and cause life changing side effects in younger people with so much life to lead, people still say it’s just like the flu. What’s the fuss? the other way of reading code of conduct, this is post freedom day, this world of apps and passports post Freedom Day. Where testing is only so accurate, and Covid passports so easily forged, and as we know from the England games not properly checked or stewarded. I only wish I was as excited and reassured as you are, I just find it complicated and depressing.

Update Q&A The Club has constructed some responses to frequently asked questions regarding the return of fans to the Memorial Stadium this weekend! Why are there additional regulations in place? The club is working closely with our Safety Advisory Group as well as following the regulations from the EFL and government to ensure that your matchday at the Mem is as safe as possible. As we are yet to hold a test event the pre-season fixtures will be treated as these to help us demonstrate that match days can run smoothly and safely. Do I need to be double vaccinated to attend? No, supporters can attend without being vaccinated, however you will need to provide evidence of a negative lateral flow test. These can be logged via www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result Do I need to demonstrate my negative test or vaccination on a smart phone? No, using the NHS app or online portal is preferred, however if you don’t have access to these systems you can bring a letter or your vaccination card as proof. Will proof of Covid recovery be suitable to gain entry to the stadium? Yes, you will need to show documentation of recovery (proof of a recent positive viral test and a letter from your healthcare provider or a public health official stating that you were cleared to travel). Alternatively, a negative lateral flow test will also suffice. Do children need to take lateral flow tests? Children 12 and under do not need to take a lateral flow test, however anyone 13 and over will. This can be done via the above processes. Are masks required to be worn when at the stadium? We would encourage all supporters to bring a mask with them and wear it whilst moving around the stadium. However, this will not be enforced and it will be down to supporters to decide if and when to wear their masks. Is social distancing required whilst at the stadium? Our pre-season games are still being treated as test events so efforts have been taken to spread supporters around all parts of the ground. Supporters are encouraged to maintain social distancing where possible. Why are the terraced areas split into sections? As part of the restrictions to ensure social distancing, the terrace areas have been split to ensure that capacity levels in each part of the terrace are limited to maintain social distancing. Will the club shop be open? No the club shop isn’t re-opening until 7th August. Will the bars and kiosks be open? Yes, bars and kiosks will be open. The Thatchers Bar will be open as usual other bars and kiosks will be available across the stadium once you have entered the Memorial Stadium. What time should I arrive at the stadium? We’d encourage all supporters to arrive at the Mem as early as possible as entry to the stadium may take longer than it has in the past. If I am not comfortable in attending the match yet, will it be streamed on iFollow? Yes, all pre-season games will be streamed on iFollow. Profits from streams for the Swansea game will be donated to Bristol Rovers Community Trust. Why are tickets for the game only on sale via Ticketmaster? One of the restrictions for the pre-season games is that we aren’t permitted to allow away fans to attend. Due to this, we are only permitted to sell tickets to supporters with a previous booking history and not permitted to sell on the day. What methods can I use to gain entry to the ground? All tickets purchased online are now digital, print at home tickets. You will receive a printable PDF via email with a download button giving you the option to either print at home or save a digital ticket to your Google Pay/ Apple Wallet, which can be scanned to provide entry to the stadium at the turnstiles. Alternatively, you can open the PDF from your email app and display the ticket to gain entry. It’s important to take note of the turnstile listed on your match ticket - as the turnstiles number is allocated to manage the flow of supporters entering the ground. Will tickets be available to purchase in store and from the matchday ticket office when the season starts? Yes, tickets will be available to purchase in store when it opens next month. The matchday ticket office will open as soon as the restrictions on away supporters are lifted. Will the same restrictions be in place after the Pre-Season friendlies? We are in constant dialogue with our Safety Advisory Group and following the guidance of government and EFL regulations to ensure that the Mem is safe. We are hopeful however, that should the pre-season fixtures run smoothly and the outbreak of the virus within society remains at its current levels or reduces, then some restrictions may be eased.

Interesting to note that there is no proof of vaccination or lft result result required to attend Bristol C v Aston Villa, just advisory note to wear a mask when moving around the stadium. Very different approaches from the two teams.

So, I don’t have a smart phone or android phone. How can I prove that I have been vaccinated? I have a card that says I have had both jabs. So, will I go to games? NO. This whole thing about proving what you’ve had and not had is now getting ridiculous. The NHS app doesn’t work properly. Millions are being pinged for no reason. I just want to get a ticket and walk up to turnstile and go in. No one asking questions. Sorry, but this is a mess. Track and trace is a fiasco. The NHS app is a fiasco. Let’s just leave a normal life as possible. If I get the Flu, i deal with it. If I catch Covid, I will deal with it. I bet there are millions of people who got Covid and don’t know they have! Best thing is to scrap all Covid and NHS apps and let us get back to normal.

Mr proper bloke meader - if I get Covid I’ll deal with it, whip my t shirt off and shout, bring it on. and how do you plan to deal with permanent erectile dysfunction from bout of Covid - like how are you going to keep the sheets from touching you this sticky weather?

I really want to get back to watching live football, I am really excited about that.
On the other hand, I absolutely do not want Covid! I have close friends that have suffered with it, and have been sensible with my life since the pandemic began and avoided it thus far.
I am knowledgeable about the vaccination process and the limitations of what it can and cannot do.
So, I am viewing my return to the Mem as a double edged sword. I want to go, but I also do not want to go. Anything the club can do to help the situation is welcomed by me. Ultimately, there is no such thing as a Covid-safe public event.
As with everything in life. You try your best to minimise the risks, but everything we do involves risk. Even stepping out your own front door.
I do not think that large public events like football are a good idea in the current climate. I think that another season of iFollow would be the sensible approach personally...

Well said. Check the infection rates for people who attended Euro football matches. Goodness only knows what figures are going to come in from the stupidity of cramming 160,000 people into a venue to watch a group of uber-privileged snobs driving their environment wrecking cars around in circles last weekend.

What vaccine are we talking about here?, you can still catch and die from quackvid but may get less symptoms. That describes a prophylactic at best. The other issue surrounds the truth of actual quackvid death rates. Me,bollocks to coercion or being terrified into allowing an untested substance into my body to watch a football match or anything else. Anyone who wants to have a pop at me carry on providing you have investigated what this s**t did to all the animals when it was developed for SARS-coV1.

But you are alive and able to benefit from the many vaccines we had, as children such as poliomyelitis, MMR and many others & I very much doubt they had the testing criteria of today plus how much money was , literally, thrown at this ? Yes, it’s your choice but it’s also others choice not to want to be around those like you and I’m not saying that personally. This is unprecedented and so, all we can do is try to make it as safe as we can, given the information available I am going with the scientists here are not government

Yeah. I’m with you. I was only trying to reiterate its not like flu. Even with restrictions it’s about 130K deaths, others with long covid. And those like poor old P Morgan, his favourite wine now tastes like rust water, possibly for ever. Also we are going to feel more comfortable with the idea everyone else in stadium had two jabs. like f**k. These two jabbed superheroes out there thinking they are immune are precisely the sort you are likely to catch it off! Say your career is gigolo, Covid gives you erectile dysfunction, your f**ked. Actually no, you’d be lucky to get away with pushing it in with a thumb and out with a winkle picker. And that’s not even an extreme example. So it ain’t flu. This Covid nonsense certainly separates the men from the wussy indeed. It’s only ladies wearing masks now. I’ll be straight up about it. I don’t want to permanently lose my sense of smell. I love the smell of napalm in the morning.
