Amber Hill, GB, Skeeter shooter is forced to withdraw from the Olympics after a positive test result,( had not actually left the UK) as the Team GB women open their account with a 2_0 win against Chile, ...My personal view is that the C19 is going to be the dominant part of these games, ruin aspirations of some yet will give some totally unknown a medal they would only ever have dreamt of , not sure it should be even taking place

Shame Murray crashed out of the doubles, our GB womens football team play again on friday v Australia at 10am, looking forward to that one.
Great performances by our swimmers / divers / taekwondo / equestrians / bikers / rowers / triathlon / gymnastics / judo and others.
I have enjoyed the vast majority of the games so far, the best is usually the 2nd week track and field events.
Our medal haul so far is G5, S6 and B5 total 16, many more to come i think too.

This is the opinion of the vast majority of Japanese people. www.nytimes.com/2021/05/18/world/asia/covid-japan-olympics-poll.htmlThere are protests outside of the hotels where IOC officials are staying. And to top it all off, they flattened Tsukiji fish market, a great old historic site in Tokyo, to make a car park for the athletes' village. OK, the fish market was run down and very dated, but it was an iconic Tokyo landmark.

In Bristol we have an old iconic outdated fruit market that I think someone is hoping to flatten to build some sort of entertainment/sports facility. Should we be protesting?

I can almost guarantee that there is a fruitcake out there somewhere who is making it his/her life's ambition to visit every fruit market in any major city in the world. In fact, I reckon there is probably a 'fruit market club' out there somewhere. Thinking about it, what are Alf's hobbies? I reckon he fits the profile.

Anyway, back to the Olympics. We have just got a puppy, who seems to think it is a good idea to wake me up at 6am every morning for walkies/s**t/piss etc. The good part about that is that I can then sit down early to watch the Olympics while the rest of the family are still in bed.

In which case, if they haven't seen Bristol's fruit market they won't need to worry, it's going to be stood there for a little while yet. Struggled to contain my excitement yesterday, medals in BMX bicycle riding and for a group of upper class toffs messing around on horses. The absolute pinnacle of sporting excellence.

Go and f**k yourself, Nobby. I`m sick of you inseminating that I`m a sad individual, who would be interested in such a thing. And anyway, I don`t have the time. I`m far too busy, cataloguing my milk bottle collection.

Do you have one of those pink milk bottles from Thompson's Diary in Cornwall in your collection? Asking for a friend.

Yea, but could he hang 180 or flip a forward Superman in a half pipe?

Got to say that my 10 year old son thinks that the skateboarding and BMX events are the dog's danglies ! It's a younger generation thing. I've got to agree that I don't think Horse dancing is a sport.
As for the 180's....don't you know they are doing 540's nowadays, you old codger !

Sounds like there may be such a thing as a half pipe and a superman in that case. Utterly preposterous.

Yea, but could he hang 180 or flip a forward Superman in a half pipe? Probably not, no. He probably smoked a half pipe, as he ran 26 miles round the streets of Helsinki. They did that sort of thing, in those days.
Edit.. and what does the Superman involve? Getting changed in a phone box?

not likely to be enough room in one nowadays, as a load of them are taken up by Defibrillators[bloody good show] and drop in libraries or as in Cheddar an almost permanent art exhibition centre [ no harm in that] but i am still looking for the penny i lost after pushing button"B"

So Team GB won the only medals table that can possibly be measured for any Olympics.
Medals per population.
Surely the most accurate measure of true performance.
