Iām no apologist for gaschat and they donāt need me to speak up for them but I donāt think it was just for that, my earlier post re winding others up, booming old posts and then having multiple accounts (though ggmi denies this tbf to him) meant it was a cumulative thing and there had been many warnings. In truth he had been posting and acting like a dick and had been for some time. I have posted on this because I think itās unfair when people get banned and go on the other forum (sometimes itās the other way around) and open a thread wearing their ban as a kind of badge of honour pretending they donāt know why when they know full well and have had many warnings. Itās dishonest and itās trying to cause mischief. Blimey, weāre all gasheads aren't we? GGMI is a bit of a scally and is ok but this time heās just pushed it and pushed it and has now paid the price. I hope we donāt turn him into the victim and gaschat the villain. It really isnāt the truth. Yeah, I get all that. And that's why it was ironic to me that his ban came at a time when he posted something sensible that I agreed with. Yes, thatās probably true. And tbf several did agree, including me. UTG! |

Seemed ironic to me that you picked up a ban while posting sensible challenges to the anti-vax brigade. Didn't spot anything bannable in anything you said. Everyone's responses appeared reasonable. In fact I thought they were all very restrained in the circumstances. Ok, I also would like to think we are all gas & should try to get along but the other place certainly puts the boot into this place and certain posters. Personally I donāt think itās a great way of showing we are all gas. I have yet to see a thread on here that is in of the same type |

The guy who set up gaschat, ras, was clever in how me manipulated accounts and wasnāt nowhere near, the good egg most thought. I think bans should be only given when you can prove truly appalling behaviour. Itās a slippery slope. Once started, it can get out of control Really? How do you know that. Ras seemed a decent guy. Personal experience and a very good knowledge of IT. |

How about you check the other threads and see if you have anything to contribute, or maybe start a new thread in a relevant section?

The political discussion pages on Gaschat have become the personal possession of a few of their number, and if you challenge them and their left wing views you will end up getting banned. Theres only half a dozen or so, but they have taken control and have the mods in their pockets. Stop people from posting in the political sections if you donāt like their views, but throwing people off the whole forum so you can no longer comment on the football? Pathetic bullying, but oh so left wing and intolerant. Perhaps and I donāt go on there and post but just occasionally view it and donāt get that impression. But tbf itās not too dissimilar as the one on here but perhaps of a different persuasion. But people with equally strong views that they donāt like others to disagree with. And of course Iām aware of your antipathy also towards gaschat. But in the end theyāre both forums with a variety of views. Not sure anyone is in anyoneās pocket but it sometimes suits others to say so. And Iāll probably be shouted down here but why so obsessed with labelling people as āleft wingā or whatever. Perhaps they just disagree and have different views. Perhaps they just ban people for acting poorly and breaking the rules. In some cases posters abuse others (not ggmi, he was off for different reasons) and thatās the reason. Not sure Iād call that bullying but as I said I prefer not to follow the political threads so Iām unaware of the nuances within it. Thankfully! Not too sure that anything half a dozen middle aged men discuss on a sub page of a lower league football forum will have much impact so I steer clear and stick to the football and cricket on here. But, and this must be good, youāve found a place here where youāre comfortable so thatās got to be a plus. Doesnāt it? UTG! I used to really enjoy Gaschat and joined in the football discussions. They were fine and it just seemed it was a big Rovers community and we all had a love of football and the club as a common denominator. It started going downhill for me when I started to read then join in on the political pages. It staggered me how ultra left-wing the regular contributors were. When it came to discussing Brexit they were to a person rabid Remainers, and their attitude towards this country leaving is bordering on treason. They would like nothing better than for this country to fail, so enraged are they we have left them snuggleblanket of theall-controlling, socialist EU. As for their attitude towards veterans around Armistice Day, the leastsaid the better. As Iāve said, thereās only a half-dozen or so of them, but like all intolerant lefties, they grab the power and drive out anyone who disagrees with them..pathetic. |

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate you replying and explaining. I guess youāve just explained the reasons why Iād rarely contribute on any political forum. Youāre right, it rarely ends well and with regards to Brexit it reflects the vote nationwide, it was deeply divisive but hopefully time will heal the rifts. And youāre right about many remainers not being unhappy if Brexit goes badly but Iād suggest itās a small minority albeit quite a vocal one. The whole issue is going to take a very long time to see if it is a success or not. Im fairly pragmatic about it and feel that we are where we are and we need to move forward and make it a success but Iām sure some will not do that. But Iām absolutely certain that the contributors on a small football forum will have little impact on that and in the end I try to avoid the frustration of such threads. But thanks for the reply and when I said it was good that youād found a place where you are more comfortable I was serious. š UTG! |
