richmace. Why say things with a "100% confidence" that you haven't got a clue about? It just makes a complete and utter mockery of your post. It is very clear that a large proportion of the fanbase are completely behind the bloke but as is the case with whoever had the job the start to the season is very important. None of us have any idea how this new side will gel but one thing I can say is that the signings fill me with more confidence than the bunch that finished last season. Fair enough you dont "buy" into no blame being attached to him for last season however surely you could see that he had no benefit of a transfer window and the loss of Nicholson took away our last hope of staying up. Personally I don't think JB has hidden behind an excuse-far from it- what he has done is to set out what he thinks he can do with a very tough target for himself and his staff unlike you who try to hide behind the YOU have no or little credit left for him and try to say that you arfe part of a "reasonable" proportion. What is a reasonable proportion? 5-10%?

I notice that Andy Carroll is available 🙂 definitely got the media profile that Wael (and maybe Gorringe?) seem to like I believe he lives round the corner from epping, so we could send our forum rep in to explore the idea further...

He lives in Kevin Nolan's old house on the Copped Hall estate (not 'that' sort of estate)... I have met Mr Carroll. No further comment at this time.

Joey was impressed with Harrogate Town goalkeeper James Belshaw who played as a triallist in the game with Plymouth. Good news. I assume Anssi will be first choice as he is a very good gk,but after last seasons 2nd choice gk being non EFL standard,it'll be quite a relief to know our 2nd choice is very much EFL standard. I hope terms can be agreed with James Belshaw.

What is a reasonable proportion? 5-10%? Long time no hear from you stevek192... what happened to your football reports last season? They were missed - certainly by me. I would disagree strongly with your statement "Personally I don't think JB has hidden behind an excuse". Mr B***** does not do self-criticism. He's always the victim, it's never his fault. As for the "reasonable proportion who have little credit with him". That is impossible to say, but I would be interested in peoples opinions. As I've mentioned, I don't read gaschat. I think there are a percentage of people who will never accept Mr B***** as manager. How many is that? My guess, 10-20% (I am one of them). How many people "have little credit left with him"? After the abysmal 18 games under his management. My guess, 40-50%. Leaving an extraordinary 30-50% of many people who "have a lot of credit with him / back him without question". It's a free country. Each to their own. Time will tell.

I am starting to feel that stirring of enthusiasm, anticipation and excitement for new signings and the new season.
Dammit
Can someone bring me back down to Earth please..
I listened to the very honest Gas Podcast today and I am hopeful more than confident, but after last season who can blame me.

Be at ease with these feelings....

We’re going to be fine, we’ll challenge and let’s hope we can improve on that challenge as the season progresses. Mango, we’re coming out of a crap 18 month period no live football, no live cricket for 18 months and I’ve only just started watching live cricket so we should be hopeful, enthusiastic and excited about the new season. If we can’t be hopeful now when can we be? Life’s got to be as good as we can make it and that means we have to hope and dream! COYB! UTG! 👍👍👍

I am one of the most optimistic on here and was scarred by last season.
Everything said we should have done well, but it's done and now we have to look forward.
I am positive about the new signings and I am now prepared to chuck myself into wholeheartedly supporting them again hook line and sinker because that's what we do.
Starting with Coutts, he has played over 400 games, is trusted by B*****, can bring a calming influence to the dressing room but more importantly on the pitch.
He has mainly played in defensive midfield, especially in the more recent past and started 11 games for Saltford (their new name) last season, playing most minutes of those games.
Let's forget that on paper people look good and then didn't deliver last season, on paper he looks a good signing, someone we could have done with. He has played the majority of his career in L1 but has also played a lot of L2.
The podcast said yesterday that McCormick was a great signing all season, yet I was only impressed with him once JB turned up to be honest.

I still hav'nt got over GC leaving at such a pivotal moment Mango.WAQ apparent willingness to allow BG,to systematically destroy GCs challengers beggars belief. It looked crass and suspiciously treacherous. Fingers crossed WAQ believes Rovers ought to be a 3rd tier club again,I think he does. Rovers as a second tier club again, might make him anxious.Still, let's get back to the third first.

I am in total agreement. The longer it goes on though I still think he binned BG too soon as I feel we might not have gone down
