Fair enough Basel... Just FYI Skybet have Rovers 10-11 to finish in the top 7... Bookies fancy us to challenge too then. Yup, we're 2nd favourites. Odds for a Top 7 finish: Salford 8-15, Rovers 10-11, then 13 Clubs Evens to 11-8.

Asked a coach at Stoke, who had previously told me about Matt Lund joining us, about a lad who it seems is coming our way on ,loan.Connor Taylor. Connor's had quite a fast track into professional football. A couple of years ago he was on the books at Stafford Rangers as a junior but never played for their first team. Signed for Stoke halfway through his scholarship , last season had a few games on loan at Chester where he made a very good impression. Has made one sub appearance for Stoke first team in the midst of a bit of an injury crisis. The plan will be to loan him out and I would think he could cope at League 2. He's a big lad, at least 6'3 but not afraid to have the ball.
There's a bit of history repeating itself if he signs, when Joey B was at Fleetwood he had Harry Souttar, an even bigger centre back, on loan from Stoke and it all worked out very well, came back to be a first team regular.. I think Clint Hill was quite influential working with Harry. Hopefully this works out as well.

Scored 6 goals in 5 games and is a nightmare in the oppositions penalty area.

Looks like a young Colin Hendry so he should head the ball where Baldwin prefers to duck

Not convinced after last summer's recruitment debacle.
Proof will be when we hit the pitch.

Not convinced after last summer's recruitment debacle. Proof will be when we hit the pitch. As it always is. But you are absolutely right. Most signings look good in June but we need to wait until August, September or even later to see how good they are. UTG! ps. Let’s hope he’s as good as Ryan Sweeney in his first season when he came to us from Stoke.

I was very excited by most signings last summer, especially those that had the tag 'a real coup', more like a chicken coup.. There was more than one as well. Anyone remember when we were 4th favourites to win the thing?

Not convinced after last summer's recruitment debacle. Proof will be when we hit the pitch Too many got overly excited and had expectations of promotion. This guy sounds like the big but skilful centre forward type. Have heard talk of another player who is a winger but can’t remember his name. Lots saying too good for L2 but played and I think is from Cheltenham so may just sway him to come, if only for a season

After Garners murder of the GC winning team,I did not feel very comfortable about his team,at the beginning of last season.
Eg. 'Who is going to stick a tackle in,in midfield ' I remember asking.
This time I have confidence Joey will sign players that blend into a team.
I still think we'll challenge.

Some action in the striker area - at last???
Bristol Rovers boss Joey B***** is close to sealing a double deal that would see Aaron Collins and Harvey Saunders arrive at the Memorial Stadium, according to D3D4FOOTBALL.COM.
The pair are out of contract this summer and although Forest Green have offered Collins a new deal, it appears he is ready to move on after two years at the New Lawn. Collins is a skilled forward and has put in a number of excellent performances during his time with the Green Devils. The 24-year-old netted 11 goals last season in Gloucestershire and also had seven assists.
Another player [possibly] heading to Bristol is former Fleetwood man Harvey Saunders who was on loan at Hartlepool last season. The 23-year-old was released by the Cod Army at the end of last season and could link up with Sam Finey and Paul Coutts after both players joined the Gas earlier this summer.

I wonder if these were our Joeybag’s first choices or whether he’s not got his budget he wanted. A Fleetwood reserve player and a 11-goal a season striker from the tree huggers. Hmmm.
