is what we've had here these last 2+ months
a managerial ingenu, and then a Jonny-on-the-spot, could conjure mid-table mediocrity from this group of players, the 'right group' of players
but not the newbies, it was far, far beyond them

A bit of humour for you AMPG on a dark day for Bristol Rovers FC. This is somewhat reminiscent of Blackadder. Lord Percy is tasked with turning base metal into gold. Blackadder : This place smells worse than a pair of armored trousers after the Hundred Year War. Baldrick! Have you been eating dung again? Lord Percy : My Lord! I have waited on your return! [Percy hugs Blackadder] Blackadder : And thank God you did, Percy, for I was just thinking to myself, "My God, I die in 12 hours, what I really need now is a hug from a complete prat." Lord Percy : After literally an hour's ceaseless searching, I have succeeded in creating gold, pure gold. Blackadder : Are you sure? Lord Percy : Yes, my lord. Behold. Blackadder : Percy... it's green. Lord Percy : That's right, my lord. Blackadder : Yes, Percy, I don't want to be pedantic or anything, but the colour of gold is gold. That's why it's *called* gold. What you have discovered, if it has a name, is "green".

I can't find leaving the club with no equity in the stadium and relegating it at the same time a subject for humour in that way, sorry if that makes me negative or if writing about reality is in some way off-putting to others.

I think that no matter how dark or bad the place we all find ourselves in, there is always a place for humour (in good taste and respectful of course).
If we lose the ability to laugh at ourselves then that truly would be a dark day.

I AM THE LAW. Humour is allowed. Preferably gallows humour on a dark day for our Club.

Only of the Mods allow it... I find humour better for ones well-being than anger. Though I have been guilty of the latter quite a lot since February 22nd 2021. It's 'only' been 2 months. Feels longer.

EFL highlight, or lowlights in our case last night introduced us as 'Joey B*****'s Bristol Rovers'. We are branded. They talked longer about him than the match, talked about his attitude to the players, this chewing tobacco thing, showed him slumped against the hoardings during the game, then showed what appeared to be a bit of a spat with a senior player at the final whistle. I agree, humour is important, but we are watching our club imploding from top to bottom. What's needed is people who bring a steadying influence, not volatile characters.

Insightful opinion, as always. My apologies. Nobody is happy about the situation our club is in at the moment. My stock response to crap is to try and laugh at it, as decades of getting angry about football and other things that went wrong, did me no good at all. UTG, or should that be DTG?

Hey, there's nothing at all here that you and I should fall out over, we both want the same thing I think, and I suspect we are both frustrated at where the club is, on and off the pitch. We probably have different ways of expressing ourselves, that's all it is.

I can't help wondering if Joeybag lost the dressing room a while back
The reasons are; I don't hear anyone speaking up for his regime (unlike, say, Ben Garner's when Mark Little spoke up eloquently, and Frostie regularly talked up the buzz around the place) He has attacked the players, or their attitude. And told tales out of school about chewing tobacco. That undermines trust, and would appear to be self-serving His points per game is miserable - far lower than either of his two predecessors
And, just for good measure, he has talked about the 'cancer' running through the club, just to make sure that noone emerges unscathed
