Every player finds their level at some point. Re curring note here..... Tom Nicholls!!! You just know he's gonna score against us at some point!? Probably in an influential match..

It depends on what style of football the manager prefers. He's definitely not suited to Dolly B*****'s rough and tumble niggly football or Tisdale's ponderous game. I think fast flowing football where he can take centre stage with his range of skills. I'm not sure if his handful of awful free kicks is a ploy to fool defences before he delivers a beaut or whether he needs a long mental warm-up to get his adrenaline level up. He played his best football under Garner where he was the centre pin in some sublime pacy one-touch passages of play (among all the not so sublime). But that was what he was brought in to do so no wonder he's gone off the boil.

People said Oztumer was a great signing, trust we are not going to waste money on him.
In my opinion a bad signing this season.

Re curring note here..... Tom Nicholls!!! You just know he's gonna score against us at some point!? Probably in an influential match.. tom has scored plenty for Crawley this season. Is league 2 his natural level? What is the Crawley formation and how does he fit in? With hindsight, I feel he should have been played as an oztumer figure for us rather than matty Taylor's replacement. Anyway. Water under the bridge now.

Westbrooke 2 goals and 7 assists this season. Next best for assists is Leahy with 3 assists.

Worst midfield signing since? The only player who showed up well in yesterday’s friendly. a certain irony in promising players only looking crap because the management is crap, and the crap managers get tasked with getting rid of those players, supported by crap board and crap supporters.

I thought the young lad Joe Budd looked very promising, Luke Thomas looks to have a nice cross with his left foot. Also the young lad from Weston showed up well, another good left footer. Havant were well up for the game and thought some of their tackling a bit over the top for a friendly.

I'm surprised he's still with us. I thought he'd have been the first to get a League 1 contract. Maybe he's hanging on for a late bid from a Championship side

Apparently nearly all the squad will be ready for selection for the Stags game. We'll have a better idea who is going to shine after maybe 5 to 10 games.
Seems to me (seen little) that Westbrooke can enjoy his football more with a wee bit of space on the ball and clear easy instructions on who and where to pass it.
I think this seasons team will know full well their individual duties and how that fits into the team game.
I think we'll challenge.

In the matches I saw, Westbrooke was one of the players that offered us creative forward passing. I'd have liked more tackling, interception, and retention of possession, but if he'd had it all then he'd already have been playing in a higher division.
Not everything he tried came off, and sometimes he'd fluff a pass and we'd have to defend, but if everything he tried came off then (all together now) he'd already have been playing in a higher division.
I've no problem with him sticking with Rovers. None at all. Coach him up.

Thought Thomas was better out wide but ended up more central.

That sounds good. 4 3 3 a good solid shape, allows quick transition out of defence. Southgate should have played it in the final. Hopefully they stick to a plan long enough for new players to familiar with it. And would be interesting if Grant gets run at his favoured defence role.
