If there was expert timing in a resignation, I would say this is it for our advantage.
Let's hope the caretaker man follows a BG footballing philosophy and doesn't play any strikers!

Must be something wrong at the club if Bowyer leaves them in 8th position and the last 4 games unbeaten.

Birmingham are in deep trouble and he couldn't keep Charlton in the Championship. Only hope their players are suitably traumatised for tonight's game.

Cheers Pop, just read some more info, must be a good job in the making if he can chuck away a 2-year+ contract. Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer has resigned after nearly three years in charge at the League One club. Former Addicks midfielder Bowyer, 44, was initially put in caretaker charge in March 2018 before being appointed permanently in September the same year. He departs with more than two years left on his contract having agreed a deal until summer 2023 in January 2020. "It was a difficult decision to leave," said Bowyer. "Everyone knows how I feel about the club." Charlton are eighth in League One, two points off the play-off places with 11 games remaining this season. "The club is now in a place with a good owner that cares and wants to improve the place," added Bowyer. "I hope the club can continue to grow. It will always hold a special place in my heart."

Birmingham City have appointed former Charlton boss Lee Bowyer as head coach, just minutes after confirming that Aitor Karanka had stepped down. Karanka, 47, had been in charge of Blues for less than eight months. Bowyer, 44, who resigned from his job with the Addicks on Monday, has signed a deal until June 2023.

Birmingham City gave their Championship survival hopes a massive boost as they held out against Reading to earn victory for new boss Lee Bowyer in his first match in charge.
Although Bowyer had only been officially unveiled only 24 hours before, he had already enough time to realise that the restoration of target man Jutkiewicz might prove a big factor.
Recalled to the starting line-up following the miserable 3-0 home defeat by Bristol City which proved the end for Aitor Karanka, Jutkiewicz took just four minutes to make his mark.
