So good to see Harry Bamford in the superb Hall of fame today. Too young to have seen him play but read lots and seen the Pathe news coverage.
Quality footballer and real gentleman by all accounts tragically killed after accident in Clifton
Looking forward to the next one next Friday.

Whilst having the old legends is right and proper, it would be nice if there was a bit of a mix between the stars of the 50s and 60s with some more recent legends thst most would have seen. So far they are way before my time and many others and I am not exactly young.

Harry Bamford was a right back .None of this back four nonsense. When I first went to Eastville he was paired with Frank Alcock at Left Back and then Bert Tann converted Josser from left wing to left back to partner him. Green Un called him the 'Poker Faced ' Harry Bamford. Seen here with the Gas works in the background.

Video of the first part of Fulham v Rovers 5.11.55 features a few bits of Harry Bamford. Clears the ball off of the line at one point! Rovers won the game, but unfortunately the video ends before the end of the match.

Stuart Taylor played until 1980,the vast majority of Rovers supporters will have seen him play as most of the support is over 50 (in fact probably over 60). Are there many recent legends ? no doubt in my mind that the non league side are very important in the clubs history, but are they legends ?

If someone isn’t in the initial ten it doesn’t mean they won’t be ever inducted. They have just missed out this year

I am nearly 58 but did not start watching Rovers until 1984, so did not see Stuart Taylor. All I am saying is mix it up a bit so that younger fans can relate to it. History is very important but younger fans need to relate to some of the legends. As for more recent legends the 1989/1990 squad, Rickie Lambert, Roberts/Cureton? Chris Lines for his Two periods with 7s and being local?

Just out of nosiness, most of us were probably either coerced or fell into supporting Rovers at a much younger age, what happened in 1984 to make you see the light/commit yourself to a lifetime of misery & frustration?

'Legend' is quite subjective,so far Bradford,Taylor and Bamford all one club players, Jackie Pitt would be another,Ray Mabbutt, Jarman,Biggs and Randall are mainly known as Rovers players althought they had brief spells elsewhere. Modern players move around more so Lambert for instance had a great career but is he a Rovers legend ? Gary Mabbutt and Larry Lloyd also had brilliant careers winning so much but only had short careers at Rovers. Lines is interesting because he had 2 spells at Rovers including the non league season.

I have no connection to Bristol. As a kid I supported Arsenal but I was a bad loser and had teams in every English and Scottish Football League Divisions so that I could take solace in other teams winning if Arsenal lost. In 1984 I decided Arsenal were big enough to look after themselves and I decided to follow Rovers, who were in the second division when I picked teams from all the divisions. Have I regretted that decision? Yes but would aI change? No. Leaving Eastville was a shame but the Twerton years were unforgettable. Since being back in Bristol there have been big disappointments but some real highs. Much more interesting than plastic football at the top.
