Its becoming increasingly more depressing every time i tune in, to get hit by Joey B unfit to manage Bristol Rovers. Made worst with all the other negatives such as as not supporting the club until Wael and JB are gone and that we are certs for relegation! Its getting to the stage that i come stright back out as the forum, without reading any recent quotes as the needle appears to be well and truely stuck, we are in danger of becoming a 'one trick pony' and it implies that we are all of the same opinion. I can understand people being depressed after the Covid blighted year we have all had to endure. Nevertheless when i started contrbuting to this forum after being shown the Red Card by the Gasshat Forum it was like a breathe of fresh air. The bottom line is Wael with all his faults is keeping the club going and with JB, Arrry Redknapp is of the opinion that he is 'management material' His appointment has raised the clubs profile and i truely believe he will keep us up. Hes very much in the public eye, he knows this is his last chance to redeem himself and at the same time finally bring long suffering Gasheads some real substained success. Would be nice if Rovers stayed up and then JB,Harry Redknapp and a consortium of real businessman made the present owners an offer that they couldnt refuse to buy Rovers. Harry isn't the brightest but he isn't stupid. He knows all about percentages and when they come your way it is a plus. He wouldn't be stupid enough to give it away.

I think it boils down to the fact that he cannot help who and what he is. Its inherent. His father without doubt was a thoroughly nasty piece of work. What sort of behavioral examples was Joey subjected to as a kid? What sort of parental standards would allow a 17-year-old boy to go out and drive an ice-axe into another boy’s head simply because he was black, as happened with B*****’s half-brother? At least stray dogs will keep well away from the Quarters while he's in charge.

Bravo for putting your head above the parapet! I have not visited the site either much recently, as its pretty clear where people stand. Maybe we should have separate threads for those who cannot abide B*****, those who love him, and those like me who are somewhere down the middle. Whilst I am tending towards being supportive of him, I have struggled to justify to myself exactly why and how, given his appalling record of misdemeanors and in particular the opposition of so many respected posters on here. I believe that however much Joey will try to improve himself, that nasty streak will always burst out and he will be in trouble again. I just hope that as he gets older and wiser those incidents become less and less. But then there is the other side to B*****. On the evidence of player interviews, team performances, and reporters closer to the club than any of us, it looks as if he has made an immediate and galvanizing impact at Rovers – not only tactical, but by inspiring the players through his character, experience, intelligence, and positivity. His charge sheet aside, he looks like the very sort of manager Rovers have been crying out for since Darrell left. I would really like to see B***** learn from our ‘family club’, respect our values, keep his nose clean, and enhance the careers of our players and thus improve Bristol Rovers. My gut instincts are that it will probably all end in tears, but I think on balance I am prepared to give him that chance. And if he does come out of it a better man for his Bristol Rovers experience is that not a good result? Good grief. So now B***** is the victim, just as he says every time he gets caught. This is what he said after being banned for placing bets on football matches over a 10 year period, it wasn't his fault because he was addicted to gambling, he then doubled down on excusing himself by blaming the FA for not doing more to challenge the culture of gambling. That was after he complained that an 18 month ban for gambling was too severe. At times this bloke sounds a bit idiotic I'm afraid. Ref us being a 'Family club'. That ship has sailed with B*****'s appointment. We are now in the gutter with clubs like Liverpool, Millwall, 1982, Villa, West Ham, you know, those clubs with no moral standing whatsoever.

I struggle with that Pete. When my kids were little I used to take them to Twerton and always visited the Young Pirates room where John Ward would pop by and talk to the kids individually. As a parent you could always question him on footballing matters and he would always give a polite answer even if he disagreed which was most of the time. I doubt very much that Joey B***** would give the same response if you questioned his ability to manage so I would probably not encourage my kids to attend today. I certainly wouldn't be buying TV's for the room or paying for the ball boys track suits. If we really do turn into one of the nasty clubs then its not the club that so many worked so hard to save but enjoy the success all the same.

Genuine question - I get the reference to Millwall, 1982 and maybe West Ham, but why are Liverpool and Villa in the gutter with no moral standing?

Not only have we surrendered any values we may have previously upheld, I mean, be honest, who would want to hold this bloke up as a role model, but we've done that, and squandered almost all of the equity in the club's home, equity that Dennis and Geoff, and multiple board members fought so hard to accrue, and we've lost all of that whilst allowing the club to slip backwards. It's a disgraceful record. But hey, Wael's a nice guy and got his picture taken with Ozil and gave Will Smith a Rovers shirt. FFS!

I think it difficult to become a winning Gas legend for anybody.
We had those that did'nt attend GC games, thus contributing to ruinining our promotion challenge.
Now, some want to - if possible - ruin Joey Bartons chances. Some of the thread and posts I think ridiculous.'Cancel culture' bulls***.
Going back abit further,we had those that wanted to see the PT Lennie partnership broken up. Why? To see if PT could do it on his own! Absolutely f'in stupid! Another crass move, supported by Gasheads apparently determined to see us never reach our potential.
I'm sick of this bollocks.

I always laugh when I hear this "family club" guff, over the years I can think of many things that Rovers supporters and players have done that were pretty disgusting...I suggest that we dont make a list.

Liverpool pretend to be victims, always have, but got us banned from European competition, and if you think their behaviour has changed one bit just Google assaults, violence etc involving their fans. We did this on here a while back, it was typified by them attacking the Man City coach, and some on here defending it. They aren't a nice lot up there. Here we go, the usual suspects will crawl out of the woodwork now and say that it's just a few 'wrong 'uns', no it's not, that club has had the problem for generations and should be excluded from all competitions. Attended match days would instantly become safer events for everybody.

Hooligans who just liked a fight.

The answer to that question is the biggest contributor to the club being held back from realising it’s potential, not the fans.

I always laugh when I hear this "family club" guff, over the years I can think of many things that Rovers supporters and players have done that were pretty disgusting...I suggest that we dont make a list. It’s not the fans though! That’s how Wael sees the club- Eppinggas posted the other day about a circular from the club stating it’s commitment to being a family club and don’t forget the “stand up” video campaign a couple of years ago to sell season tickets to families by having a girl stand up on a stool. A the time the fans loved it and really bought into the family image. There was even a thread on here with how well received it was, I don’t recall anyone saying “we’re not a family club” at the time. Now the fans predictably forget that ever happened and claim we’ ve never been a family club just to rationalise the cognitive dissonance that comes with producing videos to entice families vs then hiring a manager with an ABH charge over his head. Give it a couple of years, B***** will be gone, the club will start a promotion to encourage families and the same people denying we’re a family club now will be talking about how the club is a great role model for families and the community and always has been. C’est la vie in the up and down world of the one eyed football fan

He’s banging on about referees again this morning. Anyone would think the referee had headed the winner into the net or something

Non attending Gasheads in GC time played a part in our current position imo. Trying to ruin it for JB is destructive. Getting rid of Lennie was stupid, but supported by many Gasheads. Some of the posts and threads on this forum since JB got the job are destructive and sanctimonious enough to be the last woke priest standing. Yep,of course WAQ and various board members have made mistakes and they make the decisions ,but that can be prompted by eg non attenders ,not at the Mem because the football is'nt how Gary Lineker told them it should be. These are reasons why - as thread title asked - it will be difficult for JB to become a Rovers legend.

Mate, he could win the Prem, League & FA cups and you'd have the awoke Warriors condemning him and refusing to go to any of the games. Which they would do, but wearing false beards and moustaches in case anyone recognised them.
