Ian St John has died at the age of 82.
I was a fan of Saint & Greasie. Two great players that knew their football and enjoyed a laugh.
After meeting Saint at a motorway service station days before a Bristol derby I told him the game did'nt get the national coverage it deserved."Okay son" said Saint.
Whether my less than subtle words made any difference I'll never know, but sure enough that Saturday morning on the Saint & Greasie show ,the two spoke about our big game for a few minutes.
l've always thought of Saint as a real gent.
A great player and tv football pundit.
Rest in peace Ian St John.

I watched him make his Liverpool debut against Rovers at Eastville on 19th August 1961, their promotion season to Div. 1 and our relegation season to Div. 3. It finished 0-2. I was only 12 and it was my Rovers baptism. All I remember was a relentless sea of red.

They're still a relentless sea of red and we're still in the red. We went something like six or seven games at the start of the season before scoring let alone winning. A 2-3 defeat at Plymouth, and we celebrated like we'd won the Cup.
