Bomber was Gas though He had to wear a Gas shirt in one of the series but was actually in real life a City82er. Still it made me chuckle that he had to wear one! I'm pretty sure that's a myth, he was a Brummie after all. with no connection to Bristol. I just remember a scene where he was talking about football with the cockney one who looked like a 70s glam rock star, who , when his team were criticised, said to Bomber 'Well they're better than Bristol City anyway' to which Bomber replied something along the lines of 'I don't know about them, I'm a Rovers fan' My memory is a bit hazy on this one, but there may have also been a reference to him being a City fan in a different episode, so the continuity people didn't do their job very well! Anyway, we do lack a bit on the celebrity fan front, so I'm claiming him for us , even if he is a fictional character!

Great appointment this gasheads utg He is doing his best to be a Gashead. If you watch his interviews , there have been several occasions, where he nearly calls us 'Bristol' and just about gets away with adding 'Rovers'. I find it quite amusing, but at least he knows !

Who can forget 'Wayne'? as for Bomber, his accent was so far off it was clear he wasn't from anywhere near Bristol. All good characters, though Dennis, Oz and Barroy were the the standouts I thought. Dagmar and Herr Ulrich were also good

I remember seeing some skinheads in London wearing T shirts with the image of a crucified skinhead,I expect that T shirts with a crucified B***** would be very popular.
I see B***** as a good subject for an opera,a talented but troubled genius struggling to move on from his past but always pursued and tormented by hideous Gollum types.

Wasn’t Gollum that creature who used violence to get his own way (taking the ring) and then had to live with the guilt and torment whilst trying to deny the way the ring warped his true nature and tried to make him do bad things? That Gollum? Maybe I’ll call B***** Gollum from now on....😂

Yes, Pat Roach was from Birmingham, and if anything the accent he used for Bomber was Cornish. You always get a generic 'Mummerset' accent, whenever someone is trying to do a West Country accent. Watching McDonald & Dodds last night, Jason Watkins, playing DS Dodds, sounds more like he's from Glaawsterrr. 2nd para, you've got line almost right, just the clubs round the wrong way. I can remember watching it and had the book too. Just a guess, but I reckon he ended up wearing Rovers tops in later episodes as the quarters are more recognisable and synonymous with Bristol football.
