i think we should give Joey B***** and his team a chance.
I mention this as one of the critics of Darrel Clarks appointments So how wrong can I have been.If we do get relegated it will be our fault not his.

its the appointment of someone of this type of character,,DC had none of this garbage around his neck.... IF he succeeds then Wael will have proved hisself right on this occasion,we all hope? he can avoid relegation, but it is really just the person, and i for one "am out" until he goes off the scene

I'm neural about JB appointment as can see both sides, but my loyalty is to the club, not necessarily individuals within it. I agree JB should be given a chance, much like all the other appointments before him because his employer has faith in his ability. Wael has sanctioned the hiring of his services because he sees something within him. Whether it works out for the best, only time will tell, but I agree with o p JB deserves to be given a chance..

What a puerile OP.
How do we go about 'not' giving him a chance. Can I pop along at 2-55 and shout through the gates that he's not welcome here by a sizeable proportion of the support base and we would like him to 'do one' and expect him to say 'Oh, sorry, I had no idea, in that case I'll be off then'?

I would love him to win me around. But it will take more than 5 mins of being a good boy.
Again, much like BG and PT (to a lesser extent as he was here 2 seconds) Joey is fortunate there arent any fans in the ground.
I wonder how JB will react if he was getting some s**t from behind the dugout from his own fans if the team was under performing

The irony of popping along to shout "JB not welcome" when he's got the legal right to be there, and you haven't!

As I said, it could be done from outside of the gates, and whilst taking my daily exercise. A brief 28 mile walk, in each direction, sounds more than reasonable to me.

The bloke's got a court case coming up in June so he's not likely to blow his chances of getting a good behaviour reference from us. He has more sides to him than a Rubik's cube, but he seems to have great motivating skills and the ability to empower players by giving them his full support. When a manager doesn't believe in players there's only one way it'll go. Westbrooke is a fine attacking midfielder and not a defensive midfielder. Good to see him at the level he was during his first months here. He linked up well with Rodman yesterday. I've always said we brought some good players in this season but they need someone who's on board with them. B***** has the right approach imo.

Having said that he still shouldn't be the Manager of Bristol Rovers Football Club.

I've got a feeling it won't be longterm so don't worry. Only a few months left of the season so we needed a firefighter like him. His war rhetoric makes me uneasy though. Football isn't war, it's a sport. Where the f*ck does that come from, not Nietzsche I don't think.

There was an American grid iron coach that use to play his team Churchill speeches. The "fight them on the beaches" one I imagine. The middle part of the field of play is often referred to as "the midfield battle". It does'nt mean you turn up with a machine gun. We have the Curch of England hymn "Onward Christian soldiers, marching as to war". Another hymn,"fight the good fight, with all your might".That ones actually about the holy matrimony between man and woman. Etc. I hope we fight like bloody hell to beat Burton Ath.

Sizeable proportion of the support base? Produce your evidence please.

I rather suspect the remaining members of the European Jewish race would have taken a slightly different view in 1945, dont you?

This is close to turning into the sort of ping pong silliness that the other forum is notorious for, but I'll help you out with how you do this. Firstly you get the person who made the claim to define what they meant when they said 'sizeable'. Glad to have been of assistance.

Although it might not seem it, without knowing the context, the origins of that hymn are very innocent. Sabine Baring-Gould wrote it after seeing a line of children going to Sunday School. It's quite easy to picture any crocodile of children - be they lining up for school assembly, queueing for school dinners, off on a day out - and see them stomping their feet, and swinging their arms, acting as if they are little soldiers. But you're right, there are plenty of examples of similes, metaphors and analogies, to compare events with being war-like.

I sang it in my local church choir as a boy.I remember our Choir Master was'nt very keen on it,a surprise to me at the time because I thought it might be about soldiers and war, just like had seen on telly. Therefore 'exciting'.
