Excellent team performance. Best since Wimbledon away. Totally dominated. The team press restricted Shrewsbury to 0 shots of any sort before injury time in the second half. My thoughts exactly. I was thinking it would be impossible to give Joe Day a performance rating as he did nothing for 90 minutes, but boy, did we need him when he was called to action at the end.

This from the Shrewsbury forum: "Credit to Rovers who moved it well, pressed us quickly forcing too many mistakes and who generally schooled us all without really breaking sweat."

Did we win, does anyone know? Check the twitter feed, I’m sure there will be numerous recaps during the week so you know what’s been going on 😉 Good result that against against an in form team and sounds like an improvement in attitude and application.

Yes, I’m looking forward to reading what colour trainers Barton was wearing in the Post on Monday

10 quid well spent, get in there. Much better organisation and pressing as a team, fully deserved three points.

Hardly anybody seems interested in a win that takes Rovers out of the relegation places.
In normal times there would be plenty going on with a match day thread in these circumstances.
Congratulations Wael, your vanity is slowly but surely strangling the life out of our club.

Wrong. We are happy with a win Lockdown is a struggle for some of us, so to watch my team has given me a buzz today.
Am not saying in favour of his appointment but there is little I can do at the moment. I need this feeling today !
The rest of you can be like repeats on DAVE but we won and I'm happy.

I haven’t read anything on there since someone posted that we’re now bigger than city because of Wael and Barton’s Twitter numbers.

Stay strong buddy, with a fair wind something approaching normality may be just around the corner.

Our first goal today will be a 3rd tier goal of the month contender I imagine.

I'm looking forward to it, encouraged by most of what I saw on Tuesday. Such brainless positivity. Tuesday was unfortunate, didn't deserve to lose. This was no coincidence and the players have responded really well. We knew they're good enough

Morning, Gas...
Some interesting to me points on yesterday that hopefully will bore you!:
IFollow didn't credit 2-0 to us until after a few replays! Even the streaming service is against us!
The pod cast commentary were telling me certain players were playing well when in the match I saw them mis place pass, watch the ball go out of play with seemingly doing nothing about it and losing possession.
Our Twitter feed put out there BRFC v STFC, only for the link to take you to Swindon Town, not Shrewsbury! Haha!
A first time hearing of Goodnight Irene before kick off and on goals.
Not a Weetabix in sight....
Onto the game .... As expected, we provide the unexpected! Both in performance and result, especially if you read above pre match (I predicted 0-2 defeat....what do I know?).
Shewsbury played in a style that looked weary, uncaring of result, nothing to play for, lethargic and sloppy. It gave us a huge advantage. We were far more adventurous in attack and approach, far more thrifty in defence. Day literally had nothing to do for most the match....yet we still conspired to almost let 3points slip at the end because of ourselves.
M o m.... Leahy for me. Captain's performance, well organised and a nice goal to boot. When was the last time we had a LB/LWB with as many goals in one season? To put it in perspective, he's scored more goals in one season than TN as striker in 3 seasons! Yes....I know TN scored yesterday..
Here we go with my bugbear....4-3-3. On and off, ok but I feel we haven't had the players to exploit this for years (post Bodin) so when we lined up, I was waiting for a bore draw or worse....how strange that the 3 supporting the 1(Hanlan) linked for the creation of first goal for what I'm sticking my neck out to say is the best open play goal creation of the season (?) Excellent quick passing Rodders, Westers and Nickers..
What the hell do I know?
Mention to JVS.... not only does he have a great hairstyle, I'm pleased that on final whistle he was mobbed as much as I'd he had scored the winner....like we saw Wigan do on Tues. I would start him in front of Day.
But what do I know?
JB....ok, for 89 minutes I give him credit for orchestrating a much needed win. But his evergreen 2 subs at the death might have cost us again, like it did v Wigan so that's twice we've made unforced errors (because I couldn't see why we needed to change?). JVS got us out of jail, but that sub was forced. JB post match mentioned the Hanlan run for the first goal that acted like an assist....much much credit for this, I missed it. Enlightenment! I have to say I warmed to both post match interviews Wigan and Shrews. Some of it makes sense to a thicko like me.
It's a 50% win rate. I'll take that from now on as a minimum!
But, like the theme of this post.... what the flip flops do I know?

We look busy,a higher work rate. From what I've seen and can tell, more creditable intensity on and off the ball. There's reason and a point to our play.Joey appears good at communicating what he's learnt in the game to players.

92+ minutes before they had their first shot, and it produces a goal.
Strangely the BBC stats suddenly gave the Shrews a 1 shot around 80 minutes, but I don't recall seeing it!
Had been thinking in the week when the last time was we had a comfortable victory, with no stress. Well here it was, until the last few scary minutes!! I guess it wouldn't be Rovers without something like that happening, with the last ditch saves!
The goal we conceded should be easy to rectify. A hopeful long ball, so we should have been ready (and in fairness we were most of the game), but no one tracked their No.4 into the box. I'm not going to blame the defence on this one, more the midfield. There was a big gap between the back line and the midfield, and no one followed the run made by the No.4.

And to the point. It's twice now, subs at the death have played a part in losing initiative and conceding.... I'm wondering if fresh legs aren't as focused on marking and tracking? Unless needed, why can't we see out a match with the points unless we're out of sight of a result?
