From OS:
The Club are delighted to launch an official Bristol Rovers Hall of Fame in partnership with the Retro Rovers Podcast.
Beginning with an initial 10 inductees, the aim for the Hall of Fame is to celebrate those who left a lasting legacy from their time in the blue and white quarters and to remember the personnel involved in the club's rich history.
Over the next 10 weeks, we will be announcing an addition to the initial Hall of Fame each Friday. Alongside this, we urge supporters to reach out to relatives to discuss the playing days of each inductee - we aim to bring families closer during these tough times, whilst also discussing the Gas greats from yonder year.
We ask supporters to screen record their chats regarding the former players and send on to the club to an email which will be attached to each player announcement. These videos will then be turned into a large compilation after the initial 10 announcements, celebrating the players and sharing the fanbase's thoughts.
Furthermore, the families of each inductee will be invited down to a Rovers game in the future, when fans can return, with the videos relating to their relative played on the big screen ahead of kick-off as a symbol of their importance to generations of Gasheads.
Gashead artist 'Tonz' will be creating original artwork for each of the 'Hall of Famers' which will be displayed in the Thatchers bar.
Going forward, a further 2-3 players will be inducted at the conclusion of each season.
On the partnership, RetroRovers Podcast commented, saying "The RetroRovers Podcast team consider it an enormous honour to have contributed to the inauguration of the Bristol Rovers Hall of Fame. This fantastic Club has a rich and storied past.
Those selected are those we feel made the most significant contributions to that history. Leadership, loyalty and on-field excellence were the chief criteria by which we assessed those contributions.
"Some amazing characters have worn the quarters (and stripes, and plain blue). Some fantastic players will have to wait to get in! Yet in our efforts to select the first entrants we were largely unanimous. Some figures are undeniably linked with the club forever.

From when I started watching it would be:
David Williams Nigel Martyn Vaughan Jones Devon White Jason Roberts Junior Agogo Rickie Lambert Steve Phillips Lee Brown Lee Mansell
Some undoubtedly legends because of their skill or goal scoring prowess, some because they were great servants to the club.
Others who were close include Carl Saunders, Ian Alexander, Penners, Ollie, well the whole of the 89/90 squad, Marcus Stewart, Jamie Cureton, Duke, Craig Disley, Steve Elliott, Billy Bodin. The snake would have been considered but for obvious reasons....

Picking a greatest 10 or more out of any football teams history is so hard as many modern players will be left out.
It will always be the big hitters i.e longest serving, games played and goals scored & a fans favourite.
In our case it will always be Bradford, Taylor, Biggs, Pitt, Tann, Jarman, Bamford, Hooper, B.Jones, R.Mabbutt.
Petherbridge, Prince, Sampson, Warren, Whatley, D.Williams, Holloway, A.Homer, Megson & Francis to name 20.
There is no real room for Randall, Cureton, Tillson, Astafjevs, Lambert, M.Barrett, Bannister, Warboys, V.Jones.
Bater, Penrice - the list is endless trying to pick just 10. (Gerrard would probably not make a Liverpool top 10)

Will come back to players later, but without Dennis and Geoff Dunford it's not an exaggeration to say that it's highly unlikely that Rovers would have found a route to survival through losing Eastville.
Forget the disagreements with people Geoff worked with, that happens in high pressure situations, without those 2 guys we could very well have gone the way of Scarborough and Bury.
This is something that someone needs to explain to Wael as he merrily squanders the equity and security in our stadium.

Totally agree, would be great to see Denis and Geoff inducted jointly as first inductees. People try to argue that Wael saved us from going out of business - these guys genuinely did. The treatment of Geoff in later years is a stain on our history which can never be removed

The treatment of Geoff in later years is a stain on our history which can never be removed Geoff gave as good as he got. As I said earlier, these things happen sometimes in business and in high pressure situations. I know a couple of people that Geoff crossed swords with, whilst they may have disagreed on the topic under discussion on any given day none of them ever questioned what a shrewd guy he was, or his passion for the club.

I agree, Geoff and Denis are true Gas legends and without them I don't believe the club wouldn't exist today.

Apparently it is confined to players and managers not other worthies. Hall of Fame has got to means something special, out of the ordinary and if it’s 10 just players and managers makes it harder. Case could be made for Denis Dunford, one of those people for whom you could say “no Denis Dunford, no BRFC.” But as it’s players and managers I’d go: Bert Tann Jesse Whatley Harry Bamford George Petherbridge Harold Jarman Ray Mabbutt Geoff Bradford Alfie Biggs Stuart Taylor Darrell Clarke
Im sure no one will agree!
I’ve not included some great players who if honest (and nothing wrong with doing it) used us as a stepping stone to something bigger, Mabbutt, Lambert and Martyn. Some great players and managers missing but I’ve gone for players who gave their careers to BRFC and two managers who’ve left a lasting legacy. DC because he gained 2/6 promotions and arguably our most important one. The most depressing thing on reflection is how many of them were pre-1970!! UTG!

The most important season for Rovers was the non league one, regaining league status was so important so DC and Matty Taylor have to be included. For me Paul Randall is in for giving us some hope at a time when city were in the top flight, and then the FA cup goals at AG. Bradford Megson Tann Stuart Taylor Harold Jarman Gerry Francis Jackie Pitt

I could only pick from my era, with one exception, surely Geoff Bradford would have to top any list. Then from those I saw play or manage Vaughan Jones Gerry Francis Stuart Taylor Bruce Bannister Alan Warboys Frankie Prince Paul Randall Marcus Stewart Nigel Martyn I saw Harold as a manager but not as a player, I'm sure he would be in many peoples top 10. 10 isn't enough! I've missed out Lambert , DC, Holloway(thinking about it, whatever I think of his punditry he really should be in my top 10), Boris, Rammell wasn't here for long but certainly deserves a mention even someone like Christian Maclean- who certainly gave it everything. In fact, can I have the entire 89/90 squad

Pete Beadle.
Inspired against the s**te (erm - before he joined them, that is).
Hammered in a hat-trick against Wigan Pierthetic in the 1998 5-0 drubbing.
Omen?
Probably not. Sigh.
