Good read. Sounds about right. One thing that had escaped me though. We signed Paul Tisdale on a 2 1/2 year contract?!? So another big chunk of cash thrown out the window to pay him off. And doubtless a top up on the NDA to make sure he doesn't spill the beans on all the fun he's had in BS7 over the last 3 wonderful months. Some may say it's Wael's money and he can do what he likes. I say he's made us a laughing stock. BRFC, home address B*ll Sh*t 7. You come across like I feel Ian

Did any of us envisage such a poor run after the Blackpool game? Even Sheff Utd. Tisdale had no plan a let along plan b, i maintain that over confidence in signing Stockley had something to do with it, the 2 Oxford goalscorers the other night came in the window and we can likely pay better than them. Not having a players signed by 1st Jan was criminal, Garner must be both laughing and crying as he would probably have done better.

I had 4 interviews for a loans firm in 2002 who failed to mention physical debt collecting at people's houses as part of the job description. I had sales targets to hit as well, but the collections aspect stopped me from learning the job properly and massively affected my confidence. Cowboys. I learned a lot about sales however and earned a ton in expenses travelling round the area, then left and went back to insurance which i was better off for doing as a result. Never make drama out of s crisis as Rick Johansen often says. Check out his latest blog very entertaining. Starnes takes a lot of stick. Ah, right, so it's all the fan's fault for accepting it. Think I've heard this before. No explanation of what fans are supposed to do about it. Go out and borrow £50 million or whatever and buy the club I guess. As this guy states the obvious I don't think I'll waste time following his blog.

The one thing I will say about TW is that he recruited the players based on a lot of data. This could be an advantage in so much as he knows what position and tactics they play at their best. You'd think this could be passed on to managers but let's face it, it's Bristol Rovers.
We will see. I don't really like the looks of any of the possible candidates. We need someone with heart and determination. Someone who's got more than a job to lose. Ollie would be ideal for me but he sees it as a poisoned challis. If we end up with Curle I think that'll be me done for the season. No more coughing up twenty quid a week. No more impulsive purchases from the club shop and no more forum. I just couldn't take it.

You are probably right. But we have blown the budget on a large squad of very average players. I have some sympathy for Wael here. Ben Garner and the head of recruitment are very much to blame.

But for a team competing at this level, too few caps too young at once.

The last Gashead in charge lost us our league status and took all sorts of flack from Rich, among others, for his vain pursuit of the UWE white elephant that would have put the club back on leasehold - the very situation that hammered a wedge under the front wheels of the club in the first place following what appears to have been a decision by one man to sell off Eastville. Let's not dwell on the ins and outs of that but rather the impact it had on the club DNA, the set of shared values, goals, attitudes and practices that are etched in stone and which characterise an organisation. The day Eastville was sold was the day the first "attribute" was chiseled onto the Rovers' runestone: Knee-jerk. A few more have been added since: Laughing Stock, Tinpot, Ragbag. Wael took over with the message Evolution not Revolution and you don't have to look further than Almondsbury to see how true he is to his word. Leave Wael alone I say. As for Starnes, Garner was widely seen within the game as a rising star with an impressive CV as a top tier coach. He also fitted in well with Wael's evolution mantra. If you don't take a chance on someone like that when you have the rare chance then you're not doing your job. This season should have been a clean sheet for Garner because he had to bed in a whole new set of players and 11 games is hardly enough to do that. But the old knee-jerk kicked in again. His away record of W2 D2 L1 was good and I think he would have had us halfway up the table by now with his style of football suited to the players he brought in. One thing that stood out to me was he was genuinely motivated, unlike Tisdale who looked like somebody who had returned to something he once left and regretted it. He didn't seem that motivated. Again, you can't blame Starnes for going for him considering his CV. I'm not sure how many games Rich has seen this season or last, not many I don't think. I've seen most of them on iFollow, not that it makes me an expert, but all the same. Time to put a stick of dynamite under that runestone and start again.

Oh come on CPB, that's stretching it well beyond credulity. How about "Garner was seen as an old acquaintance of Wael's and was hired accordingly". Can't prove it. Makes a lot more sense than your statement though. Apologies in advance.

I wonder if TW will tell us why he failed to sign any of the 5 strikers that Tisdale provided him with details of? "I can only work with the tools that I'm given" should be enshrined on Tis's Rovers headstone.

No manager will succeed without such an absolutely fundamental piece of the jigsaw. The goal scoring piece. It does look as this Widdrington stabbed PT II in the back. Lookin after number one Widdrington! The non Gashead,on WAQs books, piece of work.

He didn't get his final wish though due to family arguments. They compromised and wrote it in Gaelic.

To get back to his style. He strode across the lush green catwalk resplendent in his office suit and clumpy club tie with the air of a man who'd been told to take the gig he'd started just as he was about to get off home to his egg and chips. Can't recall if he wore highly polished brogues, a pair of Nikes or tartan slippers.
