Think he said we also needed some draws.

Truth is, no one knows the exact number any given year, we tend to look at worst case scenario and aim to beat that.
When Epping came up with us reaching 51 we would get, we were making a jump from present form to promotion form. Maybe a tad unrealistic, normally when you see a side struggling to turn it round you notice and feel an improvement even before points hauls reflect it?
If anything our form on pitch had been going the wrong way last 5 games.

Need Coughlan to get us out of this one. But Coughlan combined Jonson Clarke Harris, Millwall Tone, and Ollie Clarke with younger DC signings who were better than I realised at the time, so even if we could beg Coughlan back, he wouldn't have the same tools to work with.
Graham Coughlan, I was unconvinced by the style and substance of your Rovers. I was wrong. I wish you could come back with all forgiven, dig us out this season, then have another tilt at the top of the third division again next season. We should have appreciated this more last time you were here. I apologise. Shoves

Shoves ainsworth took Wycombe up with the same tactics, ahead Sunderland, Portsmouth etc but we didn’t drive Cocko out the club, his family were home miles away, and that quite rightly was his concern. (Mansfield getting through managers and languishing too despite their master plan) for the same reasons cocko won’t be back. He might blag his way into the green job one day. would you have Trollope back?

...51 is pretty safe. (Though we did manage to achieve 51 in 2001-2001 and still went down. A poor 45 points in 2010-2011). 50 and it's sort of 1/3 chance of relegation. 49 and it's not looking good. 48 and below - very probably League 2 football". I am now doubtful that we'll get to 50 points. But I'm also doubtful that 4 other Clubs will get there either. 7 Clubs have averaged less than a point a game this season: Rochdale: 0.962 Wimbeldon: 0.961 The Gas: 0.923 Wigan: 0.889 Northampton: 0.889 Swindle: 0.857 Burton: 0.846 Last 5 games: Rochdale: 0.8 Wimbeldon: 0.8 The Gas: 0.4 Swindle: 0.6 Wigan: 0.6 Northampton: 0.4 Burton: 1.8 Conclusion: Everyone apart from Burton are showing even worse form recently than they have over the season played. I think we're in for a statistically quirky season. In the last 11 seasons - the highest no. of points to see a Club stay up in 20th place is 48 pts (Walsall 2010-2011). This year I think it will be even lower. Only Burton are showing any signs of life after a clear out in the January window. I still think we'll stay up, by the skin of our teeth. Due to 4 Clubs being even more inept then us.

I’d rather feel comfortable by end of season that be worrying about other results. I’m very much hoping yesterday was a turning point. Play the guys is their right position and play two up front, pease.

Their roots go back to the early days of football and, like us, a founder member of the football league. A club that refuses to die. Here's an interesting story from their club history book.
In February 1907 Stanley played away from home to Bradford City for an FA Cup tie. Their goalie was the legendary and gigantic Willie “Fatty” Foulke, whose jersey clashed with the red of Stanley. Not surprisingly a suitable other coloured replacement could not be found. The problem was eventually overcome by the use of a sheet, borrowed from a nearby house, which was wrapped around the man’s giant frame. Bradford City won by a single goal and since Foulke didn’t dive during the game you now know where the expression ‘to keep a clean sheet' comes from.

Yup. I doff my cap in their general direction. Another related fun fact. Accrington are the only Club to have spent their entire history in the top flight of English football (1888-89 to 1892-93). Note - nothing actually to do with the separate entity (Accrington Stanley FC 1891) that as stated, joined the Football League in 1920-1921. They were dissolved in 1962. Note note - in theory nothing to do with Accrington Stanley FC formed in 1968. But in reality they were the phoenix Club. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accrington_Stanley_F.C.

Lovely story, and may well have happened, but to say that is the origin of the phrase 'to keep a clean sheet' is fanciful at best! 'A clean sheet (or slate)' would have pre-dated 1907 by some distance. Used in a few different ways, from the same root, for instance: - To start something again/afresh. - Without restraints or commitments. - To show no mistakes. Football would have borrowed the phrase from existing similar usages.

Even awarding us the 3 points against Swindon and Wigan I have us sweating on 38 points. March and first week of April is a very difficult run of fixtures; if we are still flirting on limit of drop zone at start of these fixtures we will be buried in it by the end of them. If we are going to get the wins we need to stay up they need to come in next few weeks, not later in campaign. Well, the average for the 14 full seasons prior to last season is 49 - 50 points.
We need 22 more points from a possible 51 and a miracle.
This division is really tight and is still 4 down from 7.
Might be a lot less points needed because of this.

We have to get our business done by March 23rd and a win v Swindle at home.
Otherwise, Northampton apart, look at our horrendous run in. We have only one 6pointer after Swindon.
This season we won't be saved by club's going bust or into administration (which I'm semi surprised at) but the cost of relegation might be far reaching.

I have to say I really don't fancy following these people in the 4th tier. There would have to be big convincing change for me to carry on supporting people I've lost faith in.
