Li tonight , another 6 games off with C19 related cause, Rochdale boss calling for a halt in the league program, Infection rates with the new variant going through the roof, bringing with it sadly more deaths, personally i think he is right , 3 week break at the least to TRY and help get this thing under some sort of control

This season should never have begun.

I cant see how the season can continue much longer, no idea what happens then.
Fortunately with all our games in hand, the extrapolation they used last year would leave us safe.
But what happens if called off with sides playing less than half their games, null and void season? Can hardly play through the summer and go again with no break.

The League should have set up Apertura and Clausura style tournament with no promotion or relegation unless both could be finished. Each club should have faced each other home or away drawn at random until everyone had played each other once up until the halfway point of the season with the winners winning a Winter Title. Once completed a second tournament could have started with the completion then giving us a meaningful promotion and relegation scenario. If it couldn’t be completed then ah well, there’s still a Winter Champion. Works perfectly in the likes of Mexico, Argentina and Peru and would have worked for a season here. Ah well.

Oxford vaccine has been given the thumbs up.100,000,000 ordered.Described as a "game changer". Tough times still ahead, but this vaccine coming along is great news.

Old fools chasing money, that’s all they are. I think this is true but I'd like to know where the money ever was for the resumption of EFL? To me the whole thing seemed to exist in a slightly fantastical bubble. How are clubs better off carrying on in front of no fans and a smattering of IFOLLOWs while still paying their squads? It's never made any sense to me. There's a little bit of the football world, between Conference South and Western League standard, that can't currently get on the pitch because the clubs need fans through the door to make it viable. I have never understood why this is not the case for every club from League 1 until you hit genuine amateur set-ups.

Move the rest of the season to safe havens like Taiwan and New Zealand, simples.
Bags League One in New Zealand, just so Harry can get his away day of course.

Just finished one on Martin Dobson. Does it only have 12 sentences before an abrupt halt, during which he is pushed down the stairs?

It's almost as if football supporters blowing their wages watching matches in run-down grounds, and buying football club tat to wear there, and buying overpriced pastry to eat there, and buying warm beer and cider to drink there was what paid for third division professional footballers all along!

I think it has been a decision based on marginal impact, rather than anything else The cost base is primarily salaries and ground maintenance etc, which will have to be paid whether the games continue or not. Unless the club goes bust, of course So the choice is carry on doing what we can, or do nothing at pretty much the same cost

Just finished one on Martin Dobson. Does it include the bit about him driving to matches with his wife, not with the team? Or walking on and off the pitch with the rest of the bench a respectful three paces behind him? Or realising Steve Yates hidden talent as a midfielder?

Epping Forest - top of the Covid-19 charts. 1,321 infections / 100k. Yay - a bit like having a Christmas No.1. In all seriousness, football should stop. UTG.

Rochdale boss today[excerpt of message from bbc sport Fixtures will continue taking place as long as it is safe to do so, but the EFL is implementing mandatory testing across all its member clubs this week following a spate of postponements during the festive programme.
Of the 52 fixtures called off so far this season because of Covid-19, 34 of them have been in League One.
"My fear, in common with that of a number of other League One chief executives I spoke to on Friday, is that there will be so many players test positive that we'll almost have to suspend the season," Bottomley continued.
"Human life is far more important than whether we play football matches, surely.
"I'm talking from personal experience. My 85-year-old mother has tested positive and has been in hospital from the beginning of December with Covid. It's best football takes a break and step back."
