The Addicks forum has an excellent preview which actualy makes us sound quite good. Click Here Oddly, one or two there were unaware our 'second' nickname was The Gas. I would have thought most of the footballing world would have known that with us being such a massive club Unsurprisingly, their supporters are very confident of a win after their 5-2 drubbing of Gillingham on Saturday. If we can put in another good performance and come away with a point that would be some achievement, I think we just might do that. 1-1 it is then. UTG

I have to be honest I have never really been a great lover of the term ' Gas ', probably because I am these days what you would consider a more senior supporter. The Pirates is unique and I think something that the club could really capitalise on if marketed in the right way. Afterall Bristol is renowned for being a Pirate City what with Edward Teach and all that , I am still somewhat amazed that no one has opened a bar in town yet called Blackbeards !
City fans baited us with the term Gas whilst they stood upon the Muller Road terracing looking over at our faithfull in the Tote with the Gasworks looming high up above us inferring that we some how whiffed a bit ! and I know some of the guys in there did but it is still just a little disparaging.
Anyway on to Tuesday night's encounter and I am with you there Jeff a point would be a great return from this fixture.

Introduction Woke up this morning feeling fine, I've got Charlton on my mind, Bowyer's got us playing the way we should... 🎶 especially in the second half as we put 4 passed Wimbledon to win 5-2 in front of 2000 lucky Addicks and an owner who finally gets us, cares, and is ambitious. Suddenly, things look very positive. Only 4 points off of top spot, and it shows that a week is a long time in football. Jonny Williams is a perfect example of that phrase too. The Welsh wizard came off the bench to essentially score the winning goal and put in a fantastic performance, just the reaction everyone would've wanted. Now the mood has changed, and we all want the next game to come as soon as possible. Well, the wish is granted as we welcome our next opponents to The Valley, on Tuesday evening under the lights, Bristol Rovers.
Very common mistake to say PASSED.It should read 'put 4 past them'.When we put four past them I will let them know their error!!!

Is our game still on? Apparently Charlton have had a positive Covid test in their U23s, so their match against AFC Croydon Athletic in the London Senior cup tomorrow has been called off.

We have played Charlton 64 times, winning 22, drawing 19 and losing 23.
We have not beaten them since Feb 2010, winning 2-1 at home.
And in Nov 1978 there was a 5-5 draw at Eastville Stadium.

UTG Yeh,the CAFC Match Reviewer appears to of done some homework. I imagine Charlton Ath will remain at the top end,so it's a big test tonight. I suggest we don't give them too much respect, really have ago and enjoy. Let's carry on playing attacking passing football at a quick tempo.

We haven't won at the Valley since 1958! Tonight will be our 19th attempt since then.

Yes, The best we have done away to them is 2 x 1-1 draws, 2 x 2-2 draws and a 3-3 draw, surely this is the time to re-write history and win there in 62 years. Are there any gasheads that were there in 1958 to witness our last victory v Charlton away..?

Bristol Rovers' next two Sky Bet League One fixtures have been suspended. The Club has advised the EFL it is unable to fulfil the fixtures due to an outbreak of Covid-19, with players and first-team staff required to self-isolate in line with EFL and Government guidance. As a result, the upcoming fixtures with Charlton Athletic and Oxford United scheduled to take place tonight and on Saturday 19th December respectively, have been suspended and the circumstances surrounding the postponements will now be the subject of an investigation in accordance with EFL Regulations. Revised dates for the rearranged fixtures will be confirmed in due course. www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/2020/december/covid-19-statement/
