Another enjoyable Saturday, JVS defied our worst fears, made some vital stops, and was commanding in the air. Rovers made a bright start, with good link play, nice to score from a corner again! Argyle played some good stuff, but were wasteful in front of goal, McCormick looked very good, took his goal well, worked hard, was a threat bringing the ball foreward. Defence played with great resilience, Baldwin won his headers, and passed the ball intelligently. Rovers stuck together, and weathered a lot of second half pressure, we could have kept the ball better to relieve the situation at times. Not always a great Leahy fan, but he was impressive today, in attack and defence. The third goal was well crafted, starting from a short free kick on the left. Nicholson showed his class, Hanlon caused problems, especially in the first half. Nice to be moving towards the middle of the table, a good December could take us well clear from the bottom four. A couple of surprising results today, with Shrewsbury winning at Hull, and Wigan, who looks clueless against Rovers a couple of weeks ago, scored four against Accrington. Charlton away on Tuesday will be a good test.

I'm so dumb it hadn't occurred to me to nick a laptop of the kids and HDMI it into the TV... I'm still in front of the PC, shouting at it, Blackthorn in hand. And yes, good health to all. UTG. Blimey! You'll be realising that you can read the Grauniad for free next.. Says the man who had to get his kids to set up his HDMI TV stick

There are real weaknesses to us. But I thoroughly enjoyed the match today. Cheers for that, Tisdale. Mid table finish likely. We will both score and concede goals. It should be a blast.

Very enjoyable to watch don't often say that in past 12 months. Jvs. Westbrooke. McCormick and Nicholson were all superb. We did not miss Messi but Plymouth were lacking in form but goals which we have struggled to score finally came. PT revolution still on course.

Great win today, Rovers are 66-1 to win promotion on William Hill, had a small wager on those odds.

I thought the best team won, but not by 3 goals and Plymouth were unlucky not to score. A tale of two halves.
As much as we (again) played some lovely passing and movement football, scored direct from set pieces (how long has that taken to say!?) and some individuals really shine, I can't help being a little worried about our defence and the amount of chances we present to opposition every match.
Appalling lack of marking and opponents seem to have time and space of a lifetime in our own pen area.
That said, Alfie headed as good as any centre forward I've seen for the Gas for the first.... McCormick (or as the commentator keeps slipping up on, McCormack?) dainty goal and all round brilliant display in first half for the second....and a counter attacking slick passing move for Westbrook side footed third. Not withstanding a Nicholson bar and Upson post hitting!
But, for me the m o m was JVS, especially as his last outing he let in a howler. Commanded his area well, made two good saves, came off his line at right time to put off shot and generally looked very competent.
Another great team display against decent competition as Plymouth certainly won't face relegation on this showing.
A note.... isn't it a mark of a good team that two stars that perform consistently well weren't missed yesterday? Jaak and Oz are no doubt good enough to get in most teams in this division, yet no one was mentioning them during the match as McCormick (new position which I thought he rose to admirably?) and JVS stepped up just as well.
Starting to gel when managed correctly?
A good win and now on for sterner tests...

They'll be looking to stop the rot after four defeats on the trot and we'll be looking to turn our poor home form around. It all points to a draw but my gut feeling says we'll trounce 'em, but that's my usual optimistic self talking. UTG! That rhymes 😊

Really enjoyed the game, lots of action, lots of skill on show, plenty of entertainment, end to end stuff.
Still some work needs to be done in certain areas, and I can't agree with other opinions about a 'solid defence'.
24 shots on goal from an away side, hitting the woodwork, forcing the 'keeper to make several great saves, given too much room, free headers in the box ... all go to tell me that the defence (apart from the goalkeeper) were solid.
If we were facing a team that were better at finishing, it would have been far from comfortable ... who is it we've got next?

Jordi MOTM in my opinion. Rock solid and unflappable. Crikey, wasn't expecting that. Yep agree

Sorry Gasheds, but you’ve got it wrong.
You are basing performance on results again.
That wasn’t a convincing performance. We handed Muff at least two certain goals, it was criminal finishing at this level they didn’t take them.
I would like to criticise the lack of possession, and territory, but to be fair I haven’t a clue what the strategy and tactics were meant to be, but I rather suspect we were actually told to play counter attack and hit long balls.
The press was so so at times.
What was better was pass and move zippier than under Tiz so far, and plenty of resilience to block and close down in defensive shape.
Jordi Man of Match? LOL. All the stuff that came his way was regulation saves, it’s just that expectation is so low we applaud regulation catching and blocking now.
To go back to what was the tactic, there’s not just one way to try and win a football match, take the difference between pep and mour for example. I’m suspecting we have sacked pep and hired mour.

Basing results on performance again? Not sure what that means. We have 3 points and moved up the table.
I hate to go back in time but was that not the mantra when GC was in charge, winning but don't care how?
This side is very much a work in progress, and looks like we are improving. Some enjoyable games this week and three wins. Room for improvement as individuals and team, if there wasn't we should be winning three nil at least every game.

ESB... Your post might contain elements of truth, to a lesser or greater extent, but 3 points against a team that probably won't get promoted or relegated has to be celebrated.
Especially considering where we were.
GC orchestrated many points from such a position, and to win by better finishing and keeping a clean sheet (no matter how poor the finishing) should be celebrated as we have gone many matches wishing for such a thing!
