Extra curry on mine seeing as it's the Orient. Tisdale doesn't seem to like making wholesale changes and there's a bit of lolly in it so I don't think there will be any great surprises.

I don't agree with the changes made to this tournament, and in the current format in the current climate I think they should have cancelled the tournament this season.
We are where we are, and having qualified for the knockout stage I believe we should take this competition seriously and play to win it. I would pick a strong side and go for it.
I'm a believer in momentum in sport, and I feel it is better to try to build a consistent, winning side rather than field a weakened team just because you value one competition less than another. Especially since Paul Tisdale is still very early in his time with us, building a strong first team unit will be important.

I understand the reasons for your stand-off but I'm not sure about the conspiracy theory of testing the grounds for a European super league as Man Utd have already apparently declined. Football isn't only about untold riches, and to be honest, I don't think such a league is beneficial to anyone, especially the top clubs. The CL is a super league in its own right and generates enough cash for all of them. As for under 21s being added to the EFL Trophy, I honestly think it was nothing more than an attempt to up the attendances of what has always been a low attendance tournament until the semis and final. |

Or just don't buy take-away pizzas at all for £10+ a pop, when you can get them from your local supermarket for around £2.50 with less crap in them.

Just paid £10 for iFollow seems worth watching now the Tisdale revolution even checked date of Wembley final.

I understand the reasons for your stand-off but I'm not sure about the conspiracy theory of testing the grounds for a European super league as Man Utd have already apparently declined. Football isn't only about untold riches, and to be honest, I don't think such a league is beneficial to anyone, especially the top clubs. The CL is a super league in its own right and generates enough cash for all of them. As for under 21s being added to the EFL Trophy, I honestly think it was nothing more than an attempt to up the attendances of what has always been a low attendance tournament until the semis and final. I've become increasingly aware over the last couple of seasons that people are losing sight of the original reason for boycotting the EFL Trophy. For example, on Radio Bristol Richard Hoskin just said "it's a tournament that isn't much liked by the fans". The original reason was that the introduction of U21's was seen as a possible first step towards allowing B and C teams of Premier League clubs to compete against the first teams of clubs in the lower leagues. They do that in Spain, in Germany and in other countries. So why would it matter? Because those countries have never had the depth of support at the 3rd, 4th (or even 2nd and 5th tiers) that has been enjoyed in this country for over a century. The move is a threat to the very existence of clubs in the lower tiers, once the competition "in which we spend all of our Saturday afternoons" is devalued to the point that it's nothing more than a platform for the top 40 rich clubs to experiment with trialists or put an old pro out to pasture. Of all clubs, Bristol Rovers, whose all-time league position is about 10th in the 3rd tier, and yet (in good times) can summon home crowds of over 10,000 would no longer have a meaningful league competition in which to play. Once your matches lose their meaning, you quickly lose fans. I repeat the blurb I've posted in most rounds of this trophy over the last couple of seasons: "We need to highlight that the changes to this competition could be the first step to inclusion of B teams in the lower leagues. That would destroy the integrity of the Football League and, through the consequent devaluation of the League matches, lead towards the demise of clubs who normally play at the lower corners of the Football League pyramid". By the way, I think the boycott is no longer effective. I would prefer to find some way of putting pressure on the EFL Football League to make a statement that B teams will never be allowed to enter league competitions. Maybe 2020 is not the time, though, whilst clubs are fighting for their survival for other reasons. |

To some that matters, to some it doesn't. I would argue this is the perfect time to announce something like that, thus paving the way for many to attend when/if we as re allowed back....it would go some way to restore some faith that many have lost with EFL politics. |

German football: the average attendance for their 3rd tier in 2018-19 was 8,130 (vs League 1 8,184). So very much in line. Currently there is only 1 "B team" in the 3rd tier (Bayern Munich II). 4th tier is non-professional and split into 5 regions. So I think the structure in Germany can accommodate "B Teams" without too much controversy. Probably. Note to self: must get out more. |

Yes, a bit pedantic! I remember when Fabian Broghammer went back to Germany, I noticed the club he then played for (Wiesbaden, was it, from memory?) had crowds of a couple of hundred and played against several B and C teams from the Bundesliga.

Good to get injured players back into the squad. Also a bench place for the forgotten man Kelly.
