Happy 8-2 memories of Rovers remarkable win at Brighton. Warboys 4 and Bannister 3 plus Fearnley. Warboys unstoppable Rovers loaned the yellow shirts of the home side. On Sundays big match.

Happy 8-2 memories of Rovers remarkable win at Brighton. Warboys 4 and Bannister 3 plus Fearnley. Warboys unstoppable Rovers loaned the yellow shirts of the home side. On Sundays big match. I was there! On the YouTube video I can still make out my yellow jumper when celebrating some of the goals. An amazing day the likes of which we'll likely not see again. Also a freezing day made worse after our coach window was smashed by some rather upset Brighton supporters. I had to travel all the way back to Bristol sat next to it. No health and safety concerns in those days. Rovers reserves also beat City reserves 6-0 that day too. |

Great day, i was behind the goal we attacked second half,had a jump around on the edge of the pitch when Warboys got the eighth.

I remember that my motorbike broke down outside Portishead whilst I was rushing to get home to see the goals on TV, but at the end of the programme young Nigel Clough, who was in the studio with Brian Moore, asked to see the goals again, so I got to see them. I've been a fan of Nigel's ever since!

My Austin 1100 broke down the week before and we were in danger of missing the game but late on Friday an old guy from our village let me borrow his Ford Anglia. The trouble was it had a piece missing from the front wing on the drivers side so with a freezing draught whistling up my trouser leg for the 4 hour journey I arrived at the Goldstone Ground rather stiff. But by the time the fourth goal went in Iād loosened up enough to do the hokey-cokey. |

A magnificent day out as a member of the President's Club.
Coach to Brighton, stop off on the way home at a Posthouse near Swindon for a meal where they laid on television so we could watch Match of the day and see it all over again.
The sort of day I hope all Gasheads get to witness one day because they don't come around often.
As an aside, on the coach to Brighton, we passed the very spot (Fulham I think) where the World Cup was found by Pickles, the dog after it had been stolen just before the competition in London in 1966.
