We were decent in parts but they weren't the crucial parts. I think we put up a better performance than we did against Hull but that 2nd goal knocked the stuffing out of us. Main observations;
-We played our best stuff getting through the middle third while all their best stuff was played in our final third. We need to be better in attacking positions. They were sharp, confident, dynamic and clinical when they found themselves on the ball in dangerous positions. We were too slow, indecisive, indirect and ponderous a lot of the time and therefore we created little. We're setting up quite nicely a lot of the time but the end product and the product before the end product is not there often enough.
-I think we might ultimately be a little bit slow at the back to play the way BG seems to want us when up against the better sides in the division.

Quarter of the season gone. 8 points off of play offs. 3 points off of relegation. Go Ben. welcome back on the stats, haven't been giving out those in the last couple of weeks.
Against a top quality side, we played some decent stuff, lack of penetration to the frontline. We have played top of the table 3 or 4 times already.

Thought Alfie back in was a plus. Grant had his best game and the new left back looks strong defensively. I will keep looking for positives, their first was a great strike their second an unbelievable strike. Kind of typical. We don't look dangerous but are looking better.

Absolutely! Do you think that was a sensible challenge to make? Yes that was shocking from Kilgour - Junior football stuff. As bad as any mistake Baldwin made in the last games.
We played well for the first 15 minutes but they came more and more into it. Definitely in this one though but need to have our usual after half-time bounce I think.
going to ground and getting nothing was a mistake, yes, but it didn’t lay on the goal for Posh, there’s loads of bodies between dem belly, best player on pitch, the scorer’s under pressure too as he rifles into top corner. I thought defensively, positionally, pass and move, was very good from us tonight. The second goal probably poorer to concede we gave him too much time. two problems leap out. Our cutting edge. That’s not forwards missing chances only they don’t get many chances. Too many keep Ball touches in and around the box that can be a bit predictable? Second problem, the quality of opposition, considering the stage of the season and lockdown and everything, you have to be impressed by some of the teams and players we have come up against? Maybe they know they are contenders and want top six early in case there is another spring stoppage? |

Outplayed Westbrooke our best player Two tremendous long range strikes by Posh. We rarely troubled their keeper. perfectly summed up. I have given Tooty hard time this season, but I think he played well tonight. |

What's going on. Why are we getting report after report saying that opposition teams are ruthless / sharp / dynamic? This is 3rd tier football, not Rovers Vs 1974 Brazil.
How easy exactly are we to play against?

yes. I think maybe too many safety first passes in the final third, not enough invention. Also you look to the bench for the back up duo of forwards, give your hard working forwards a rest, it’s not been their night, and there’s no one there! |

Not many teams are frigging Barcelona, and PBoro are top of the tier 3. Our keeper wasn't that busy, but picked the ball out of the net a couple of times, he is excellent but didn't really see those shots before they were past him.

How easy exactly are we to play against? You have summed it up nicely Groiny, why are the opponents so good every week? But they are. Is it trickle down? Top of l1 becoming as good as the Championship? If you look at Transfer fee’s, cost of players, wages, quality of bench’s it might be. They also all want to jockey for position early in case the race is stopped. |

Isn't this where good football teams start, they work out how to stop the other lot putting the ball in to our net? That year we first got relegated to the 4th tier this same thing happened, we were in games, not getting blown away, but kept getting undone by great crosses and shots from the edge of the box that flew in. Someone said at the time it may be a good idea to try to stop that happening. |

And to be fair Simon, I want Ben to sort this out, but I honestly don't think he's going to achieve anything more than thrashing around low / mid-table at best. Is it better? It couldn't have got worse. Is it what should be expected as he's been allowed to recruit exactly what he wanted? You tell me. |

I think finish between 17th and 10th this season would seem about Right this evening. We are starting to play Solid, organised, composed football. I think we can rule out a relegation scrap and look forward to some decent unbeaten runs. It was You Groiny who used phrase glass chin after enduring high lites of the Doncaster debacle. Maybe in hindsight blips are understandable when first change a defensive line up, but we don’t look like we have a glass chin problem now. If you are asking can we expect them to get better and break the top 10 this season, this would hinge on gaining more of a cutting edge, but the point there being it’s going to be fun following their attempt to dismantle the problem of lack of cutting edge. If they do, we could see strides forward in weeks months rather than months years. being a fan is the life of hard work and certain sacrifice? As I said somewhere before, we shouldn’t expect the Pomp of Edward Elgar without the accompanying circumstance. does that help? |

Indeed so, we do have talent in the team but remain feeble in front of goal, I thought we signed Harries as a player with an eye for a pass?, if that was so, we need to think about that again, I also do not think that Oztumer is going to offer us anything above/beyond what we already have, but time will tell. When we start passing it across the back three, it ends with a predictable passage of play as the defense search long and hard for an outlet, we are just too slow and rigid, in contrast Boro's movement, pace and changes of direction had us on the ropes, we can count ourselves very lucky that the impressive Szmodics was all out of luck as he could have added easily another two goals to the scoreline on another day. |

From what I gather...meandering aimless pass pass pass for the sake of it,useless and awful to watch.As is aimless route 1 long ball.
Final third,decision making.This may take sometime,like alot of this season?We may have to be patient.
Have we enough movement upfront to aim for?
Are we obsessed with possession at the expense of risking a 'killer pass'?
