My wife - well, not so much p***ed off as terrified. Going off on a bit of a tangent, this gives me a little bit of an insight into what our parents may have felt with WW2.

Who knew we have been watching elite sport all these years? That was a tap-in. But well taken nonetheless :-)

It sure is crappy times so i decided to delete my original thread as it was somewhat negative, and in a attempt to cheer my wife up I popped up to the Mail this morning and purchased several items to help with the boredom of a another month indoors including a world map and some darts. I said to the wife throw a dart at the map and where ever it lands I take you there on holiday when the pandemic is over. It appears we will be spending a week behind the fridge!

C-I'm going to try to be firm but fair here Shovels - rowdenhill has taken the timbre of pedantry up a notch on here of late, and I fear from this post that you might be somewhat off the pace

I fear from this post that you might be somewhat off the pace And yet somehow you cannot say quite how? My 'pedantry' here was mere irony, though. I was responding to a poster whose attempted take-down of what bloogas wrote was itself unworthy of its author.

Were not in much danger of being invaded and lined up and shot against a wall. To be clear - I was really referring to the disruption to normal life involved - curfews, food and fuel shortages, etc., and where we're concerned the suspension of professional football. In the early stages of the war, probably until its cessation, the general population were unaware of the atrocities uncovered after the war. I doubt many people thought in terms of being lined up against a wall and shot. It was more a knawing fear of the unknown.

My original thread was about 'football on Planet Covid' and watching games via mobiles, with the first few minutes trying to get the sound aligned to the live match action. Coupled with playing in front of no fans just doesn't cut the mustard and every game has the feel of a frendly - Its a very pale version of the real thing and effectively ' best case scenario' 17 months pre season.
All the other stuff going on outside the football bubble is very disruptive and unnerving still there's nothing like relaxing on the sofa after a long day of being tense on the sofa.

Shoveler,
You are getting passed by on Autumnwatch, not even a hint of a mention, even Gossanders are being discussed, Gossanders!
Twinned with this evenings defeat, thats got to hurt.
How do you cope with such conspicious species discrimination?

I am reminded of real football every time i see Joe Biden's little jog before he hits the stage it's uncanningly remaniscent of Stuart Cambell on his way to take a corner.
