Reminds me of the 5-1 drubbing at the old Belle Vue ground. A McIndoe hat-trick. I was at that one with my son , He is 23 now, he must have been quite young then. people were streaming out and he wanted to go , but I told him we stay to the end. A few weeks later I walked out when the 4th when it at Yeovil with my son trailing behind me saying 'I thought we stayed to the end dad!' On the way back from Doncaster we saw the team at the services. Paul Tait saw my sons colours and took him on the team coach and got him some signatures. Ray Graydon was on the coach but half the team were missing, so he took our address and the following week we we sent a scarf a signed poster and a personal letter from Ray Graydon. From then on Paul Tait was my son's favourite player and he wouldn't hear a word against Graydon!

A manager of all theory, lacking the ability to turn his ideas into a winning football team.A 50% manager.
Sack him.
Now not to panic the Gashead passing game intelligentsia,I imagine there are passing game men out there, that also have the 50% of the job ,Ben Garner lacks.

Leahy 5 yards away from his man for their 4th ball watching. Not aware what was behind him. Very poor.

Glad i didn't subscribe today, saved myself a £10. I gave garner 6 league matches at beginning of season, but clearly he is out of his depth, he needs to go or we will go down. Its weird. We have looked OK today. Everything has run against us. There isn't that defending for your life character though. It looked like one of players got out the way of the fourth.

Well the result was pretty much as I expected, so for me the two positives from today are a good goal from Leahy, And I do believe Hanlan will get better.
Remarkably, we improved considerably on passing out from the back today but completely failed to defend, almost a complete reversal of the first two games, Alfie is not a right back.
Garnerball is Mythical, we will never see it. I am waiting for his post match interview and trying to remain calm, Wael needs to guide the man back up the M4 pronto.

So what are you saying the problem is? If we sack the manager will that problem go away? Will another manager get better results when sending the same boys out against men? will another manager get so many players new to club to gel quicker? Adopt his ideas any quicker? surely the defeat today is at least in part 1). The decision of the club to go down road of such a youthful squad largely owned by the club. 2). The decision of the club to want to play attractive passing game. Last season Cocko would not just have played an inexperienced Grant as his ball winner, Ollie, ogogo and Upson would be the midfield. 3). In match errors you don’t get on training ground any manager can work on and learn from. so sacking the manager won’t be a magic bullet with 1, 2, 3 still in place?

We were actually quite good playing the ball out from the back. and yes, we were actually very unconvincing when Donny played it back in again.

Garner makes excuses,'decisions going against us'.
The refs fault we lost?
Blaming the ref!
We need refs to be better.Etc.
The whole post match interview is complaining about todays ref and the Sunderland game ref gets a mention.
Oh he says we had "good spells in the game",but we "have to do better".
'Lacking fight late in game'
'We can access, improve'. Ref bad decisions.
Etc...

Update Donnie/Gas. This millenium we have mostly been, losing. The Gas: Played 12 Won 1 Lost 11. Goals For: 9 Goals Against: 31 Positives: £10 saved not watching it and Skybet get to pay my bar tab for the next few evenings.

All theory. He can't get players to play his style. A new Manager would almost certainly do better. Care to bet,? Whatever style a manager wants unless he can get the team playing it,he will struggle. Waels decision to go 'passing game',is one thing, but I assume we're supposed to pick up a few points now and again too. As I 'said',there will be passing game Managers out there, but simply put, better at it than BG.

It’s hard arguing against people when you respect their opinions so much, and can see their point of view. But so early into this season there are other considerations still in play too. I won’t come over Trump and say there is a silent majority opposed to sacking him, but there is likely a lot of fans, including the Chairman, who don’t add what happened last season to what has so far happened this season, Ben coming in halfway through, with remit to play a different style, unfortunately taking compassionate leave, and the covid curtailing the season. And then a close season when the squad was transformed, more youthful now, though clearly some talent and potential. All those calling for the sack today, if you had reset the counter to the start between seasons, would you still be calling for the sack today?

All those calling for the sack today, if you had reset the counter to the start between seasons, would you still be calling for the sack today? That's pure distraction. We can't ignore the fact that he took a winning team, with a winning mentality and destroyed it. It's like saying that a bricklayer built half of your house badly 12 months ago, but you are going to pretend that it didn't happen and only judge him on the fact that so far this year he's laid 6 courses of bricks, and none of them are laid straight or level but it's still OK to allow him to carry on. In boxing terms, Ben is Jimmy Smith, he's seen other people do it, he's read a book, so how hard can it be? Here's Jimmy in action;

Many new players need to settle. Things I feel from watching this game will improve.

Just watched BG's post match interview, he repeats the word 'decisions' SEVENTEEN times in five miserable mins, unreal!. Also mentions our young squad, I may be wrong on this but I believe Donny are younger, (perhaps without copps in the side).

He came on when we were 4-0 down, and scored almost immediately. I remember a whole load of Gasheads heading for the pubs at half-time. Me and Mrs. darlo stayed until the bitter end. On the way out, a couple of Donny fans invited us into their club for a few beers. I have a feeling that was their last season at Belle Vue.
