I donāt post as much on this forum but I enjoy reading it. Itās good to get a second perspective, often even though threads on here and Gaschat are on the same topic, the discussion goes off in two separate ways so you donāt feel like youāre reading the same thing twice. Itās probably also true to say that information gets disseminated in depth a bit more on here, which can be interesting to read.
Itās a good thing for the fan base to have two forums + an active community on social media, not every platform is going to be everyoneās cup of tea. Just got to remember weāre all Gasheads at the end of the day.

Keeping to the OP: Its good to have two forums with conversations about BRFC and whilst the topics are fairly similar overall they can be quite different.
GC have many more active posters which means more views and perhaps diverse opinions, there are less posters here than there were and I suspect the age of most posters is nearer 60 than 20. Itās become a place where the main forum is inhabited by about 20-25 posters. I post a lot less on there than I used to. My first port of call is the cricket thread where I know I can have a decent conversation about cricket with others who show total respect for people with different views, not always the case on the main forum. Itās not a problem and you do need a thicker skin sometimes. But ultimately if you donāt enjoy it you wonāt bother.
GC appear to have more younger posters I think, although I donāt know for sure, and there is a wider range of views. It may, in the past have been seen to be the more combative place to post but that is not the case now imo. This place has certainly gone up a level in its combativeness over the summer. Over the lockdown Gaschat had lots of posters who went out of their their way to create threads for everyone to talk, quiz and generally have fun. I would say that rubbed off on most of the posters over there and the atmosphere has been very good. That was not the case, again imo, on here. This summer saw a few posters leave, others I think have remained but just donāt post.
GC has places where those who want to post about non-football stuff and can do so and flex their argumentative muscles with other like-minded political animals. On Guzzler posters tend to āargueā on the main forum, people take offence and we get what we got over the recent thread. With so few posters one taking offence and deleting their account becomes major ānewsā. Both admins strive to keep everyone happy and appear to moderate with a fairly light touch but that requires posters to post with respect for the opinions of others. That usually happens but some like to belittle and talk down to others and thatās what usually causes the problems. We enjoy the forums thanks to the extra work of others like Epping and JeffNZ. They must have been left shaking their heads this week.
Syg, I hope this post is what you had in mind when you opened the thread. To answer directly to your opening post Iād say Gaschat was more popular Daily Express with a splash of The Independent whilst this place is more the newsletter of the Darby and Joan Club! š

Well, I've read the thread and it's quite an eye opener.
I didn't realise that non loose tea existed.
My family butlers and various retinue have been rowing too and from South East Asia, with a stop off on the return in Italy for Bergamot oranges for generations. Now I realise I just had to go to lidls. I feel like a total idiot.

The structure and arguments of debate are more coherent on this forum. Gaschat has too many new threads which tend to relegate discussions before they reach a conclusion. Whilst Gaschat has more discussions on varied Rovers related topics I tend to get bored having to sift through the many posts that react but donāt contribute to a debate.
This forum is good in that I know of users who have posted over many years since the Rivals forum so I look forward to their views, even if I know that it will oppose my view (Bamber!!). However, I like how the views seem authentic rather than provocative and that thereās reason to the argument.
Sometimes less is more so Iād have this over gas chat all day long.

What about the incredible thought provoking historical Bristol Rovers legends group on Facebook.
This brings up great debate memories and Wow I did not know that comment by some 3500 members. There are fascinating extracts from the much loved Saturday sports newspaper Bristol's much loved Green Un.
Plenty for all gasheads old and young.

When they're not whining or complaining about each other, Gas Guzzlers can be really interesting in argument and report. Gas Works has vastly improved and doesn't digress as much from the football as we do on here. But like others have said, with so many contributors, threads tend to get clogged up and difficult to pick up again on returning. It's a question of learning how to skim through it, which comes naturally after a while.

PC doesn't exist. It's a myth created by the Murdoch press.

PC doesn't exist. It's a myth created by the Murdoch press. Well, the expression has found it's way into everyday language, it even has its own Wiki page. I agree with the Wiki definition, so it's not a myth as far as I'm concerned.

It's designed to have a jab at anything left of centre, especially when there's an election looming. To me it means the party in power living up to its election promises. ;-)
