Not a single person is forcing you to take a knee. No one, nada, zilch. All that’s being asked is that different opinions and viewpoints are respected. It’s not pandering to anyone. You can choose to accept that and just politely ignore it, or make a song and dance about and be a bit of an arse. Your choice. And as for Rovers fans not being political, I’m sure you will happily join me in calling for an end to the shameful ‘F*ck the City and the IRA’ nonsense. politely ignore racist fools ? you might i wont you need to look in the mirror to find the racist fool. Don’t fall for far right lies and disinformation.

I am uncomfortable with British culture being threatened because a man was allegedly murdered in the USA On Churchills statue eg being vandalised.I think the Government should of come down hard.'No!It is not just a statue,it represents something special about us.Our history and identity'. Or at least millions of Britons feel this way. How about Winston Churchills Battle of Britain speech being played just after todays BLM protest at todays fixtures?80 years anniversary today.I don't think this a good idea by the way. The Proms episode.Bulls***ting university brain washed woke of the BBC. Etc. You don't have to be a raging nationalist Brit to be concerned. This woke Left thing. It took hold of comedy decades ago. The BBC,gone. Pop music.Eg,the stick Morrissey has got. Now they're manoeuvring and landing on football land. Our game - like sport in general - ought to be a beautiful alternative to division and politics.BLM blatantly has a well dodgy extreme side.Too much. It will only be a matter of time before another political movement wants to protest at football matches. Then more divide. Personally I want to see black and brown history taught in schools.Eg,the fantastic series "Roots" from back in the day,(70s or 80s I think). This,as well as eg WWI and WWII. Inclusivity being vital. We have massive challenges on our integration front. It is struggling. Having acknowledged our huge racial challenges, we are not the US.We do not need to 'kick off' because our American cousins have the disease far worse than we do. The obsession with black American culture has in eg music been a great thing. On gun possession disgusting. The dreaded "Feds" in Bristol.A WPC strolling along in Easton, unarmed and alone. So intimidating. I do get where you are coming from Bas, however I will say the BBC Proms story was a mountain out of a molehill, there simply wasn't originally going to be a choir and somehow-again- some sections of the media put their evil little twist on things to turn it into the row it became. I would also say I do find it frustrating that Churchill is portrayed as some sort of god, when in fact he did some pretty terrible stuff, I'd balance that by saying he was absolutely the right man to lead us during the war, I would just prefer it if we were taught all aspects of the man. I still think the Beeb is the best broadcasting organisation in the world and we should be proud of it, but i do accept that sometimes in their eagerness to be seen as doing the right thing, it can often end up being cringeworthy. Morrisey is just a WUM, fronted a great band though and although I will admit most comedians tend to be left of centre, give me Kevin Bridges over Bernard Manning any day! We all need to be a bit more tolerant of others views . People on this forum who don't know you probably have you marked as a certain type, which I know is simply not the case. Work beckons Rex, immediate thought on your post ,simply put I think Winstons good outweighed his bad.You did'nt actually 'say' this, but hinted you at least can see this point of view....

The thing with the BBC Proms was a complete non-issue. I have a family member that has worked on the BBC proms for the last 10 years and the first they heard about not using Rule Britannia or Hope and Glory was on the news. As mentioned earlier there are definitely forces, on both sides, trying to create a culture war. I've always found it strange that both the left and right think the BBC is bias against them. I don't think British culture is under threat but understand why people think it is. It seems that every equality movement has extreme elements that dominate media coverage. It makes you think, why? My personal thought is that if the middle class and working class aren't blaming each other for their woes then who will their united attention be turned on? Would it be the tax dodging billionaires? Is so, how would these billionaires go about keeping the heat of them? Owning media would be the easiest way. We all like to think that we form our own opinions but .... Got to get off to work Global, but my very first thought on your post is it's a shame black and white working class are not more united to 'fight' their cause. Unfortunately large chunks of the ‘White Working Class’ believe the lies fed to them on a daily basis by the likes of the Sun and the Daily Mail. They believe that there are other, ‘lesser’ people to blame for society’s else rather than the leaders they voted for in droves last December. The party that took their jobs away are the ones to save them? You have to be a special kind of stupid to fall for that time and time again. Yes I am left of centre, but still not the full Corbyn. I am also a massive patriot. The difference is that I believe we can have a much brighter future by being progressive and tolerant, whereas the ones controlling the narrative believe that the past was a brighter time. It wasn’t.

The fact is a person is as dead today as they will be tomorrow through tragic circumstance and we are “smiling” on here because someone did a typo and used some incorrect information. Not sure what there is to smile about really. Geez, this thread is sad, really sad. Any death in these sort of circumstances is nothing short of tragic but I don't think for one-second oldie is smiling at the death of anyone. Thank you Jeff. Extrapolating to fit an opinion methinks. It's not the first time Gasgroin has posted up misleading information to support his warped views, whilst invoking my son of course.

And away we go again, with this maniac's insane agenda. How about you pop off to America and you and your Son organise a few riots on behalf of Justin Damond? Who? Exactly, because you never, and I mean literally never seek out actual news, only stuff that supports your disturbed view.I'll help you out. Ms Damond was a white Australian living in Minneapolis, she called 911 to report a disturbance and possible assault in the alley behind her home, the Police arrived, she went to see them, unarmed and dressed in her pyjamas and was shot dead by a black Police officer. And guess what, he didn't have his body cam on at the time. Unlike the officers in the story you found so outrageous, the black officer who killed this Lady hasn't even been sacked, he's been sent home on full pay.Guess that white life is less important to you than a black guy on the floor, biting a Police officer's hand. Take your single link to a single story that supports your deranged view and keep it to yourself, you have nothing of any worth to offer to any debate. Except he was convicted and given 12 years in jail. www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-48562834"A former policeman in the US state of Minnesota has been sentenced to 12 years and six months in prison for fatally shooting an unarmed woman who was trying to report a possible crime.
Mohamed Noor shot Justine Ruszczyk Damond as she approached his patrol car to report a possible rape behind her Minneapolis home in July 2017."Maybe you, because of your location, had heard of her, but the media here have literally never mentioned her name. See what happens, I checked for the spelling of her name yesterday and the outcome of the action against the officer wasn't amongst the top search results, yet we have Oldie trying to stir the pot because some random black bloke decides to fight officers and is biting one of them, so his colleague wades in, I agree, with a crazy amount of force. As has already been said, how many riots, how many lootings in the name of Ms Damond? Far more unarmed white people killed in America by black officers than unarmed black people killed by white police, despite there being far more white officers and over 50% of crime being committed by black people. Sure there's a discussion to be had around the reason that 13% of the population are committing over 50% of crime and are therefore having a disproportionate number of interactions with Police, but if BLM actually did what it says on the tin, they would be focusing on black on black murders and the reasons for those as they far far outweigh fatal Police interactions.

take a knee to a bunch of marxist s***houses wanting to bring down capitalism/defund the police ?
i will turn my back on any kneeling
It's not being well received in America at events where spectators are present. Then players are getting stressy because supporters disagree with the act. Viewing figures are through the floor for events where teams are kneeling. It's hugely divisive and has no place in sport. Find a gesture / action that symbolises just a stance against racism / discrimination, of all forms, from all sides, and I'll wager you pound to a penny that the vast majority of the crowd will be stood shoulder to shoulder in support. I thing the middle finger should be adopted

You certainly waffle like them. There's nothing wrong with waffling as you can be waffly versatile.. Patronise all you like, it's a perceived free country (until peer pressure dictates what football will or will not promote politically). Sorry o2o2bo2ba, that was meant for Basel :-) I mean, Marxists, Lenin? What century is he living in?

It's not the first time Gasgroin has posted up misleading information to support his warped views, whilst invoking my son of course. The part about him being sent home on full pay was correct, what I wasn't aware of was that he had since been jailed. So it was incorrect, but not wilfully so. Please apologise for the suggestion that I intended to mislead. Now, please identify these other instances where I have wilfully mislead anybody. As for your Son, I wasn't aware of him until you introduced him as a topic of conversation, so stop playing the victim. Now, back to you. Has the case that those officers who took pictures of those dead girls in London did so with racist motivation been proven, as you stated was the case? And you accuse me of having warped views. Whilst you are here, would you care to tell everybody how you and your group of friends did to me exactly what you did to Nobby on the other forum? Endless harassment until it becomes so unpleasant that we both just left.

But do I owe Oldie an apology, do I heck as like, the point still stands, he wants to support his deranged narrative with half of a video of a black bloke resisting arrest, which was dealt with by termination of employment and he stated that someone is pretending that these things aren't happening. Well, who is claiming that it's not happening? Is his suggestion that the colour of the bloke's skin was a factor here, when the car was pulled over for having a broken rear light? He's off his trolley and is looking for racism everywhere. But hey, at least some people here are now aware of the death of Ms Damond, because our media here sure as Hell didn't mention it, maybe it would have helped if she was a career criminal with dark skin?

Not sure what there is to smile about really. Geez, this thread is sad, really sad. The reason that he smiled is because he's totally blind to what happened to Ms Damond, his interest is in not having it demonstrated that he's just desperate to see racism everywhere, so when there's a technicality / mistake in my post he uses that to ignore the main thrust, and smiles away, totally ignoring the death of the white Australian Lady. This is straight after making a big issue out of a lesser incident involving a black gentleman. Draw your own conclusions about the bloke. As far as I'm concerned he, and his type have no place in any civilised debate.

I couldn't really make out what was going on there, but I think you may be mistaken in who I 'support'. As I have said a few times on here, I think the whole taking a knee thing -with the exception being when Colin Kaepernick did it- is posturing, irrelevant and about as effective as standing outside your front door to clap for the NHS. I may be perceived as being a bit of a leftie, but the fact is while I do tend to vote Labour -although I have voted for others- I do think Capitalism is the only practical way to run the world. I also think there is nothing wrong as such with the politics of Conservatism, but do think the particular lot in power at the moment are incompetent, corrupt and present a very real threat to the well being of the man on the street (despite the fact that so many of those men in the street vote for them!) As regards racism- most of the black people I know could not give a flying f**k about Colston's statue or what we call our schools or concert halls in this city. They do however care about being followed around by store detectives every time they go into town, or being pulled over by the police in their car a disproportionate amount of times and - this one tends to be the biggie- are totally exasperated when middle aged white men are described as 'says it like it is' or 'plain speaking', yet when they speak up it's apparently because they have 'attitude' or 'a chip on their shoulder'.
