I think this thread has proven that there are people out there that associate the worst of us with the majority of us.
Are some of the BLM protesters Marxist? Yes! Does that make the majority of the movement Marxist? No!
Are some football fans C*Ty fans? Yes! Are we all C*ity fans? No!
Apply this type of philosophy to one situation but not the other highlights the problem.
Is taking the knee changing anything physically? No. Is it telling people out there that "we see you and recognise your struggle."? Yes, it does. But, unfortunately, it's also identified friends, family, work colleagues, fellow Gasheads, who don't want to acknowledge the problem of systematic racism in our society.

Looking at the facts without any sentiment or opinion whatsoever - in June there were 6 black managers in the football leagues, equating to 6.5% of managers. The percentage of black people in England and Wales is 3.4% so on that basis black coaches are already over-represented. Where they appear to be under-represented is in the number of black players who become managers. I can't find any statistics for the percentage of black players in the leagues, other than at the beginning of the 2017 / 18 season the proportion of black Premier League players was 33%. I believe that from Rovers first team squad of 21 we have six black players, so about 28.5 % are black. On these figures there is clearly a huge under-representation of black players becoming managers. However, if we must go down the route of differentiating people by their skin colour (which I would rather we did not - ed - that's an opinion), then with the boot on the other foot one might argue that the huge percentage of blacks footballers in the leagues represents a major discrimination against white boys who want to become footballers. I hadnt realised that the black pop was so low. I'm not going to check, but the black pop in countryside must be miniscule, also suburbs. Sol Campbells comments now seem really quite stupid.

Didn't take long for apologists for the riots taking place across America to surface and pretend that they 'aren't radical' did it. Cheshire is bang on the money. 2016 UEFA Coaches Training Course at St Georges, I hope I have these numbers correct, they are very close if not exact, I think that 44 people signed up, 41 were white, none female, none Asian. Could this be why black people, Asians, females aren't represented in coaching? But the question is why

I saw him play for spurs v Swindon at the County ground about 25 years ago plus, one of his earliest games I think, absolutely outstanding, probably the best individual performance I've seen at league level, ridiculously good, the other centre back may as well have sat in the dressing room.

Could this be why black people, Asians, females aren't represented in coaching? But the question is why Cost £ perhaps? Maybe a belief system drilled into them that 'you lot' will never get anywhere,so why bother? The same could be said for many white working class people. A while ago I got in the habit of jogging the Saturday morning Eastville Park 5 km.Until I damaged a cartlidge. Maybe 400 plus might turn up,in an area that might be white minority (I don't know maybe some one does). The big majority that took part were white ,right on middle class.'The Easton Gent Sect'.It's gratis to participate.Maybe 3% black people ran. It's not their thing or it's an example of our unintergrated country? I don't know. Hardly any black Gasheads attend the Mem,although I'm told on our big games ,the Easton/Eastville black community are with the Rovers. The Rasta that got tazered by a Policewoman a couple of years ago told me this, you may remember it got on the national news. They don't seem to relate to Rovers, but Sky giants from our glorious Premier are 'loved'.I think a sustained effort by Rovers to get more black Bristolians to attend games could work, but we may need a new stadium to 'turn their heads'away from their Sky deal.Rovers lack serious credibility at the moment,I suspect. Two sides of BLM I will mention. The far Left white hating, capitalist hating,Police hating,British heroes hating etc screaming bullies. Then eg the Sunday afternoon Eastville Park BLM gathering.Peaceful with a family picnic type atmosphere. They listened to speakers.Lovely. I prefer the Eastville Park example. The "screaming bullies" within BLM are really quite insufferable and they can kiss my white,English, working class bottom. Edit.Oh and another thing - with mischievous hat on - I think the BLM movement has shown us Britain is closer ,in our ways, to the USA than Europe. So bring on a lovely big trade deal etc and let's get on with our new route.

But, unfortunately, it's also identified friends, family, work colleagues, fellow Gasheads, who don't want to acknowledge the problem of systematic racism in our society. In the US we are told quite openly by BLM that “if this country doesn’t give us what we want then we will burn down this system and replace it”. In the UK we keep being told there is systematic or institutionalized racism in football but no evidence is produced to back that up. When some stats are introduced to show that actually people with black skin are over represented in football they are dismissed as fatuous. The argument is then changed to say that not enough ex footballers become managers or coaches and that is wrong. But does anyone ever stop to think that maybe not every ex footballer wants to pursue a career in coaching or management ? Is it not right that ex players should be free to choose their career path when they stop playing ? Or should they be compelled to stay in the game so fans can sleep soundly in their bedS knowing we have achieved a satisfactory artificial balance? The BLM movement is all about compelling people to do what they are told is right. It is all against people being allowed to think freely for themselves. It may now be fashionable for multi millionaire sportsmen to support this group but when the recreational violence and looting eventually stops it will be ordinary people, black and white, who are left to pick up the pieces.

No one is asking you to take a knee. It's the fierce opposition to others doing it that I'm talking about. Equating what the EFL are doing by taking the knee to the worst minority people it represents is the problem.

I have no idea. Go ask some non-white ex-professional footballers. If you get the same reply from lots of non-white respondents, and that reply is that they don't feel that they will be given a fair hearing at interview stage then you've demonstrated that there's a perception issue, but you are still some way from demonstrating any actual bias in the recruitment process itself.

All that blood coming from Police heads, did'nt look "peaceful" Rovers v Chelsea, about 1978 could of been described as "largely peaceful" because the majority did not participate in the fighting and violence. Not exactly my idea of good reporting though.

So, how many riots, how many assaults, how much vandalism, how many lootings are OK with you, as long as it's just 'the minority' doing it? Maybe someone like you, with a moderate outlook, should disassociate yourself from the chaos that surrounds BLM, and them we could have a serious discussion.

Should Gasheads start a new team because someone punched a horse? Would you give up something you joined or created in good faith, if a minority were focused on and made more prominent by the media but they were against the core values of the movement?
