For the next month or so, at least, the only way we can watch Rovers -home or away - is by using the iFollow stream. A match pass costs £10.
How much of that tenner goes to Rovers?
I wrote to Tom Gorringe (Rovers’ Commercial Director) yesterday, to see if he could clarify. Tom replied very promptly and his answer surprised me a bit.
“Yes, clubs receive the revenues from iFollow. Ordinarily this is around 80% (minus the VAT), however for the upcoming season clubs will receive all of the revenue (minus the VAT)”.
“Ordinarily, clubs receive all of the revenue for purchases through their site. Therefore if you purchase your pass for an away game through our site, that revenue will be allocated to us. However, for the upcoming season, the home clubs will receive the streaming revenues for the ‘usual’ away club attendance, on top of their own”.
Apart from the current season, then, how do EFL Digital, who run iFollow, know that they should send the money to Rovers?
Tom - “We would always advise that any purchases that you make on iFollow you do so via our site and not that of any teams that we are playing as that revenue will more than likely go to the other team”.

Got in with about 5 seconds before kick off. Awful stream. Buffering every 5-10 seconds for the first 15mins or so... Bloody Ipswich commentary and a bloody boring biased Mick Mills. It's crap coverage and crap garnerball so far.

I didn't have any buffering. The only technical blip was that the audio went funny for a few seconds, making Mick Mills sound like a Dalek. I didn't work out how to switch* to Radio Bristol commentary until after the match was over! However, I found it interesting to hear what Mick Mills said about us. - We will finish in the bottom half. (That's worrying, because broadcasting diplomacy would suggest that that statement is a euphemism for "will be relegated").
- Our 3-4-2-1 and their 4-3-3 are not "compatible" formations. Whichever team goes behind will struggle to make their system work.
- Our [Rovers] formation should give us the advantage of numbers in midfield, but would suggest that Ipswich will have some joy down the flanks.
Before I give the impression that I think he's some kind of genius pundit, he said that he couldn't see where Rovers next attack was coming from; two seconds later, Nicholson was bearing down on goal and brought a sharp save from the Ipswich keeper! * On the computer, at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen, there is a symbol which (depending on you) looks either like a football or a wheel. Click on it and a prompt appears, saying "Audio >". Click on that ">" prompt and you get the choice of "Home" or "Away".

Although I found Mick Mills pretty dreary and biased... he was actually very good. He did say they would rip us down the flanks, and they did, frequently. He said he couldn't see where the Rovers goal threat was very early on. I would say it's a bit like listening to Al Jazeera instead of the BBC. It gives you a different, and quite often better, idea of what's going on in the world and why. (Though I would say they have a bit of an agenda against Israel. Apologies, I digress).

Does anyone know if you can buy a match pass on iFollow but watch the game on a delayed time?
Tonight’s match starts at 4:45am down under so I’d prefer to watch a pre-recorded match from 6am.
I’m not getting up that early to watch the reserves against the second best spa town in southwest England in the tinpot trophy

Not showing the match on ifollow. Live commentary only on ifollow if you have a match pass or subscription.

From ifollow : How to Follow the Game
Due to broadcast regulations, Carabao Cup games are only available as audio match passes. To purchase an audio match pass, or an audio monthly pass, please click HERE.

Thanks for confirming. I’ll pass on the live commentary and just check the scores as I wake up.
Why have I suddenly got a taste for a carabao ‘energy’ drink? Is it popular in England?

"We are top the league..."
To date, Rovers have sold over 7,500 iFollow passes this season - that's the highest number in League 2.
Not bad seeing as though there will be a fair few, at the moment, holding their spend back on Rovers. Plus, until the last couple of games, we haven't exactly been setting the league on fire.

Being top of the league is even more impressive when you take into account the international break window, when iFollow is made available to UK audiences (not just overseas). On every occasion this has happened this season we have been playing at home.
When we drew 1-1 at Colchester (at a time we were 16th in the table, and 4 points above the relegation zone), Rovers sold over 1,200 iFollow passes, when the actual attendance at the ground was only 2,069.
