Coventry City regular last season. Formerly a youngster with Chelsea and Brentford academy ...friend of JCH... central midfielder aged 23 fits the profile would be useful signing.

I saw him a couple of times at Orient. He didn't do well there, but it was only a short stint at Brisbane Road. Obviously he had a good season with Coventry though...

Yes, he looked good in the 2-2 cup match in January, but most did, it was a good example for League 1 imo. I’m not thinking too much about it until he’s actually signed because the position of a creative midfielder is exactly what we’ve been wanting for three years and it hasn’t been addressed. GC paid lip service to our needing one but you could see that he would never play him even if he had signed one and DC still had Chris L. If ZW signs it will be a very important signing. UTG!

Different opinions on him from Sky Blue fans.I have an opinion on him from what I've read ,but that would go against what many say. Fingers crossed it works out if he signs.

He looks promising. We have a couple that are defensive midfielders and fingers crossed for this.
As for opinions on the Cov site, its the same as here, its polarised, and I will make my own judgement when and if he plays. I wouldn't have Upson anywhere near the starting line up, but I know many would.

But, when GC started him last season, up until GC left he was in fine form and had found his position. He was even scoring a wonder goal now and then. Difficult to remember, easy to forget, but upson definitely has his place. Just unfortunately now with several changes, I don't know where. Welcome, Zain and we all hope you find the fine form of last season and hope you can have as a successful Gas time as you did last season.

Looks like an excellent signing
Another 3YD though, for someone we really want. Like for Tommy Nicks and Benno
Could turn out brill, or different to that

I genuinely think a great signing. If we keep JCH, poss one more wideman and one more fullback, we are good to go and be extremely competitive. Strong front to back.
Cant remember being so excited since DC started our climb back.

3 year contract. I thought we, as a club, had learned a little on how this can turn out but maybe it was one of the main reasons he chose us. As I understand it, there was plenty of other interested teams.

As I understand it, there was plenty of other interested teams. I'd suggest it's a slightly different ballgame giving a 3 year contract to a highly sought after 23 year old who is (hopefully) on his way up in the game than giving expensive long contracts to a player in his early 30s who is clearly on his way down or plateauing. It was the latter that we always did too much of - overpaying for reputation based on what a player has done before, rather than what they are likely to do in the future. In other words I'm not sure I have such a big problem with investing in players who are on the upswing of their careers.

I think it's a big lure for players security the 3 year deal.... only time will tell if it's a wise decision or not. 3 years of Zain or 1 of Ollie? (Probably sercombe-like is more accurate).

Yes, indeed....to concur, I would have no hesitation of offering 3 years to Alfie K. That makes sense to me!

I’d be much more excited if we could go and watch. Watching the FA cup final was dreadful, no fans and piped fan sounds. WAQ must be putting a large amount into the club, I only hope he can maintain this as we are going to have to deal with huge monetary losses. It just seems surreal, to be writing of probably our best pre season, as for bringing in some quality players yet knowing I will only be able to watch via a TV or device. I watched half of the FA cup and just really got put off, due to the lack of people. It’s not something I’d sign up for but each to their own
