Chris Hughton very much in the running. In my opinion, he would be the perfect fit and has both the knowledge and tactical nous, to push them on. His appointment would make me feel bothered. I see him as a future England manager.

Some of them are getting very uppity about the possibility Dean Holden might get the job. Calling for his head before he's even got the job. Come on Lansdowne, you know it has to be Messi Player Manager!

an enjoyable read, that. It was 'Parkwall Estate' back in the day, I believe when Ollie made a few bob from football, he lived in the nearest big house to it (Oldland borders, by the church)

There was a Banjo flag in their end at Twerton on the Second of May. I actually ended up living next door to the bloke who's flag it was, he was one of those prosecuted for trying to attack our players on the Beadle derby day, I don't think there are many of them in Banjo, but the few who are there like to make a thing of it, hence the flag.

π 4 and a half years ago we were in L2 and on the way up, they have spent zillions and still can't get out of that division. As a Cardiff boy I enjoyed that today, all the sweeter now. Trouble is, they might go up without him next year. Pretty much every other club in that division spending zillions and can't get out of it. It's a different game now, completely ruined by money. Those brief few seasons comfortably midtable in that division playing at Twerton can't happen now.

I think a couple of 2nd tier seasons at a club playing home games at the likes of Twerton or the Mem very difficult, but very possible. Graham Coughlan was building something comparable to Gerrys Twerton heroes. What has changed- along with the cash etc - is football fans have become indoctrinated into the MOTD/football media Barcelona way of doing things.'Cash and pass'.Anyone following other styles ,as played by eg Burnley, are lesser human beings and will go to hell.Sky Telly told us so and so,it is so. We have a fair percentage of fans who are 'above' eg a GC style and stop showing up. Snobbish, ignorant, strange, odd and very queer behaviour. It can destroy a whole potentially new and successful era. Not that it still annoys me.

Very harsh Bas.
Remember Southend, dire first half and lucky for us Southend did not turn up second half. Never left a game so down after winning four two. I don't have sky. I don't have high expectations. But I want to enjoy all about football experience.
It was old fashioned football, we will never know what would have happened if he stayed. No value in discussing that. He has gone, down a division I should add, let's see where he is at the end of the season.
For now let's concentrate on us and hope that Garner can turn out a competitive team. Looks like we are assembling a good squad. Hope they become better than good as a team.
