Sheffield Wednesday have been deducted 12 points that will actually be implemented at the start of next season. In the scenario it had been this season, it would of seen them finish bottom and playing Rovers next season. gold hunting is a dear hobby!!!!

I am indifferent about Charlton going down but laughed when i heard they may lose TL for nothing due to his contract clause. However, this is disgusting. Sheff Wed should be relegated, Wigan have been, I can't believe it. It's disgraceful. Charlton are fully entitled to take action.

A bit suspicious that it took the EFL 8 months to reach the decision... and then it comes just 9 days after the end of the regular season (and therefore the penalty can't be applied to the 19-20 season). Fingers crossed Derby get the same treatment. Derby and Wednesday both look like they've tried to bend the FFP rules by "selling" their grounds (I presume on a sale and lease back arrangement). Just an accounting trick. Villa and Reading also mentioned.

I see DW Sports gone into administration. I'm not into high finance etc., but is the inference they've been, er, how shall I politely phrase it, going down hill for a while? Hence Dave Whelan having to relinquish Wigan? Is the lesson here that it's great for a small club to have a sugar daddy and go places, but when the money runs out...... that's it. Unless another loaded football fan comes along, which is unlikely. I worked closely with a Wigan fan some years back and I remember him saying something like "Whelan will have to open his wallet". It went through my mind then that how can you assume his pocket is bottomless but I said nothing. Few other clubs might take note. Enjoy the ride..... while it lasts.

As with many things bloogas you enjoy the ride whilst you can. I suspect most know that with smaller clubs which come good the good times do end. Wigan perhaps, Rushden and Diamonds, Wimbledon, Bradford C, Barnsley etc. UTG!

If his pocket was bottomless that might explain the lack of funds. All dropped on the street

Wareham - one imagines a certain Steve Lansdowne has his limits. And add Fleetwood to the list.

Confirmation that Wigan will be relegated to L1 after losing their appeal against points deduction, Note that Charlton are deciding if they will contest the late decision of Sheffield Wednesday case against points reduction when their” offence” was lodged in February!! Interesting times ahead

I really don't get how Sheff Weds have broken the rules... Long term I don't think selling Hillsborough is a good thing for the club but that's their decision... Don't get what's wrong with that?

Don't get what's wrong with that? how and to whom , a way to beat the monetary fair play system is the allegation, clever accounting is what they are at!! Derby are next in line it seems, and possibly Villa

Let’s face it the Championship is a total mess. Wigan have been shafted because the EFL thought their new owners who put them into admin 4 weeks after taking over we’re “fit and proper.” Sheffield W and many other clubs are basket cases financially. Were we ever to get there I suspect we would all be feeling p***** off at the injustice of it all because I suspect we see many wannabe PL clubs spending money they haven’t got many times over. As to Charlton I would imagine they have a strong case against the EFL and Sheffield Wednesday not that that will make any difference. UTG!

Kind of grateful it's happening to other teams and not us, also much bigger teams (although is anyone bigger than The Gas?). When it's Bury and Southend that's one thing, then Sheff W is another altogether. I remember Middlesbrough and Wolves going close in the 80s and of course Leeds in the 2000s. Grateful it's not us. I feel we're a few years away hopefully yet, look at Wigan, I think after their Prem exploits it was always potentially going to go that way, look at Bolton, Sam had them top 6, mis-management at board level put them below us. UTG

Poor form Brentford + new ground curse = relegation in coming season.

It's all very fishy. Basically a club the same size as Rochdale who enjoyed a new stadium, several decent years in the Prem and an FA Cup win. My sympathy in short supply, but it does stink.

Basically the Prem' { 1st Division } is made up of a nucleus of a dozen or so teams that will always be there barring catastrophes. Then there are two or three teams that we usually term "yo yo" clubs, you know the ones, Villa, Boro and perhaps Brum, followed finally by the Cnderella 'No Hopers'. These are sides up on a roll from Division Three who are being bankrolled by a 'temporary' money man / men, the likes of Hull City, AFC Bournemouth, Brighton & Hove Albion and now I suppose Wigan Atheltic.
These teams usually have there four or five years of fame but 'always' end up playing back where they used to as the pockets of these temporary white knights together with the clubs "Prem' only interested fans " always seem to retreat away from the sinking ship and from then on in it's just a downward spiral. Notts County, I remember not that long ago they got themselves up in to Division One and I wonder where they are playing now ?
