Imagine the irony of going from the high of only club you've known and loved (?!), to the low of the one club that put paid to the lowest points in your history.. ?

Sometimes you never know what you’ve got until you haven’t got it anymore. But I guess that we’ve probably got slightly better defensive mid field options and better attacking midfield options, he was a very good utility midfielder who didn’t let us down and gave us excellent service. My favourite game of Ollies was at Eastleigh in the conference when we were one down and down to 10 after Mildy was sent off but he got a great goal before getting sent off. We got a 1-1 and I walked out totally confident we would go up. But that was the Conference and were now looking, presumably, at challenging in League 1. But I’m sorry he’s going, he’s one of our own and I wish him the best wherever he ends up. His next club will get a wholehearted player who gives 100% and with a few goals in him. Good luck Ollie. UTG! This is just the point. I tend to look at a game after we have lost and say 'we missed them today'. Last season I think we could say that about a few players only, JCH, Sercombe, Craig, Davies, Rodman etc, but for me, I never found myself saying it about Clarke and this will be the case, even if I expect we have a poor run from the beginning of next season. That is the gauge for me, but others may feel differently.

He was fearless going into tackle. he had a good eye for goal, a reasonable scoring record and getting into position for a shot. Less frequently but still there was a great chance making pass. he was made Captain for a reason, maybe fans didn’t always see that on pitch, but not to disrespect reasons managers made him Captain. Leading by example off the pitch, in training, punctuality etc is important. We lost him as he comes out of his learning years into the best of his career. If you want to say it’s okay because Upson and Ogogo is the answer, that’s really not the answer. So we have a hole to fill

Ollie might have an off day with ball, but he never had an off day when the opposition had the ball. Those who would shout at Ollie after a poor pass seemed blind to the tackle, block or heading duel etc he would be involved in,sometimes seconds after said mislaid pass. I found the criticism Ollie (our Captain!) recieved lacking in respect and understanding of the game. GC knows well what he's doing and what a very good footballer he's just signed for the Stags.
