I've recently had a few tweets with a rovers player. It was with ref to blm, the upshot was he told me I must be racist or stupid. There were a few more tweets and again he told me the same thing. I'm neither stupid or racist by any measure and was trying to have a sensible debate. The result of this is that I had a threat on twitter, I've had to block and report the individual, who I think is just some juvenile idiot, who can't see past disagreeing with the player. I asked the player if I could message him directly as I thought after the threat that the issue was out of hand, but he replied no and that I could just tweet the message, which considering the threat I wasn't willing to do. I've now had to block all the contributors to the tweets inc the player. So, should players have a contractual clause that permits them from using social media, or has it nothing to do with the club? As far as the rest goes I'm going to forget the issue and move on, the only positive from twitter appears to be tims listeningparty. So let’s get this straight. You tweeted a Rovers player with your opinion on Black Lives Matter. Whatever you said, caused him to conclude that you were racist or stupid. You wanted to extend the conversation privately and the player indicated that anything you have to say on the matter could be done publicly. You then blocked the player. You then post on here asking whether players should be contractually gagged from using social media. I’m very pleased that you are able to forget the issue and move on. In my opinion, you might take a little look at your own attitude and see whether some careful reflection is needed.

No. Suggest you read again again as you have entirely missed the point. So what was incorrect in my earlier message?

No. Suggest you read again again as you have entirely missed the point. I don't think they are the only ones. I promise you I am not trying to be deliberately obtuse here, but it really does seem to read as, you chatting to a player on Twitter and when it doesn't pan out how you wanted, questioning whether players should be allowed to interact with fans on Twitter how they see fit.

No. Suggest you read again again as you have entirely missed the point. Is the point that players may get caught in between spats like the one between you and the person you say threatened you? I'm kind of struggling to work out what the problem is. Can't you just explain it please?

I don't know about anarchists... though of course they would be drawn towards any anti-establishment movement currently in vogue. But the two co-founders of BLM (Patrisse Cullors and Alicia Garzaare) are self-proclaimed Marxists. Patrisse: “We actually do have an ideological frame. Myself and Alicia in particular, we’re trained organizers. We are trained Marxists. We are super-versed on ideological theories.” Seems pretty clear. Doesn't appear to be 'fake news'. Whether we agree with their views or not I don't see what is so controversial with holding Marxist views? It's hardly new, is it. Hi Oldie - apologies for the delay in responding. I find people who hold Marxist (or Fascist for that matter) views pretty abhorrent. History tells us that either system of Government tends to lead to the deaths of millions of people. So yes, I find people holding these dangerous political ideologies as controversial. If Patrisse had said “We actually do have an ideological frame. Myself and Alicia in particular, we’re trained organizers. We are trained Fascists. We are super-versed on ideological theories.” You would be out-raged? Yes? I would be. Anyway - hope all well!

I don't think that the player is responsible for the reaction of a 3rd party. You described that person yourself as, and you'll have to forgive me for paraphrasing here, something along the lines of a juvenile idiot, and it's Twitter for goodness sake, my advice, don't use Twitter.

Haha!Quite an achievement then.😏 I reckon Rex,you agreeing on a point or two with Jim Davidson is typical of these days. The shifting sands of UK politics starting moving around more than usual with the start of the Scottish referendum imo.It created many strange bedfellows, then Brexit made it all even stranger. Talking of Scotland,I think I'm going make the effort to get to Dens Park this coming season.Cov19 allowing

I had a look round when I saw Celtic at Tannadice, but two attempts to visit since have been thwarted by postponements (one after a mammoth drive through torrential rain, being told the game was definitely on , only to hear of the postponement as I drove past Dundee airport!)

As I said "ouch"! Well no Celtic Dundee games unless they draw each other in Cups. I'm not bothered who the opposition would be,but Hearts Cally and Dunfermline are 2nd tier next season.

It's definitely on my hit list for when all this is over.
