A new striker to replace JCH,before our first game proper, would be a boost to squad and Gasheads. Would certainly be a nice boost and would give us a measure on whether the money received will be reinvested No news is not good news at the moment. I would like to think we are in the market for a decent striker but it worries me that if we don't bring someone in we will go down. Walker and Daly are untried at this level and we need some experience to take the burden consistently. Otherwise we just become another failed project of attacking number 10s and wingers

Big season for BG.He can't afford to get it wrong after his disastrous record since he arrived. He has my full backing and will give him a clean slate but as we stand ,think we may struggle to score many but no point in getting it wrong with a panic buy/loan.Luke James,Tommy Nick, and a few ineffective loan strikers have not been up to it so essential with our only real striker gone that we get it right.

Otherwise we just become another failed project of attacking number 10s and wingers I’m sure we’re in for a new striker. Don’t believe we’ve made the signings we’ve made just to leave ourselves short of a decent striker. With an extended window we have some time to get one in. That the squad numbers which have just been released show no number 9 makes me think that they are working on it now. We just have to be patient, easier said than done perhaps. UTG!

Another reported, Rovers have bid £350,000 for Paddy Madden.
Wiki says he's now 30. 6 ft tall.

Yet another we're supposed to be interested in - one of them'll actually happen - Chuks Aneka.Big striker at Charlton.Looks good to me and as they say ,'a great touch for a big man'.A BG type I reckon.

Madden is a proven goalscorer at this level for many years so that would be a big statement of intent if we signed him.

He featured in the 0-0 up at Fleetwood in late December last year. The video shows an early miss - but you have to be in position to miss. His movement looks good, but (ironically) that's what cost Fleetwood a goal. He moved towards the ball before Evans' net-bound shot, causing the referee to rule offside. It's worth watching, if only to see the Joey B***** meltdown that followed that decision! >>Link to video of Rovers at Fleetwood in December 2019
Re: Paddy Madden - he might suffer from the lack of discipline that seems to be synonymous with Fleetwood Town. I seem to remember, in Fleetwood's play-off semi-final first-leg against Wycombe recently, he was sent off for two stupid, petulant, avoidable indiscretions. Fleetwood had a bad day, losing 4-1. But for the sending-off, they might have kept the score down and given themselves a better chance of making the final and getting promoted.

Brett Pitman has slipped the net, sometimes you need a player that can put the ball in the net only.
This was the only chance we had to get him, I therefore have to trust BG that the project will work better without his type of player and age, and that he is getting someone in who fits the mould.
Goals are the end result though, no matter how much high press you do.

A striker that - more or less - operates no wider than of the penalty area would -you might think - do very well surrounded by our up tempo runners and ball movement. I think and eg,Jordy Hiwula is another example of said type.

Apparently we're interested in Newport Countys Josh Sheehan. Midfielder. Good player I think.
Edit.He would be a very good signing having had a YT look at him.A great connector from defence to midfield and on to forwards. He can pass to feet and for players to run onto.Neat. Can tackle too.Can hit a decent free kick and shoot. I imagine he has a pretty big transfer price, unless his contract ran out.

So our new signings:
Max Ehmer, David Tutonda, Jack Baldwin and Josh Grant - all defenders Grant also midfield. Zain Westbrooke and Sam Nicholson are midfield / wingers. Brandon Hanlan and Jonah Ayunga are strikers.
Who will be in the starting eleven and who are back up / support players..?
