Statement Bristol Rovers Supporters Club and Bristol Rovers Presidents Club are delighted to express their complete support for Mr Al-Qadi. "This proves to us that we were right to do everything we could to destabilise the club and undermine Mr Al-Qadi at every turn. We look forward to meeting in the Wellington when it re-opens to plan our next strategic master-stroke." Regards John Malyckyj That poorly-mannered chap knowall hasn't commented yet

Well maybe I'm a bit giddy tonight. Last time I posted here was after going to an Exeter match in January and noting how we were, as I saw it, being left behind. What I've been reading tonight about the actions taken by Wael is remarkable and maybe, just maybe, things are turning. Really, to agree to any level of financial commitment to a lower league football club is a brave thing to do. To do that in the midst of a pandemic with no idea of when you can start playing again, let alone have paying customers in the ground, well, it shows at the very least a commitment that takes the breath away. Why at the age of 55, miles away in the Surrey Hills, am I excited and just a tiny bit emotional. It can't all be down to the Cotes du Rhone. Can it? I still prefer the way that the Exeter boardroom conducts itself and if Wael looked at their ethics and his cash the future could be very exciting.

The fans I spoke to on the Big Bank that day were all well on board with the way the club was being run, which was an interesting and novel thing. I'm really hoping to get to an Exeter game again next season when I take my daughter back. She's renting a house about 300m away from St James Park. Would love to take you up on the offer of a pint beforehand. What a heady notion.

Personally I don't think anybody has to apologise for anything that has been said on this forum (personal attacks aside).
Given our history, we have all become accustomed to disappointment and being let down. Every board we have had has made promises that have not come to pass (for whatever reason). Fans can be excused for being pessimistic.
Today sounds like truly unbelievable news. Firm decisive leadership. Clear direction. Removal of debt burden. Roadmap going forward. Training ground underway. I suspect there will be a stadium announcement soon as well.
All this was unthinkable yesterday. Thank you Wael, I wish you all the best and hope we all get the Bristol Rovers that we all deserve. Wael has committed himself to Rovers, I will do the same in my small way for what it is worth.
I agree with the actions speak louder than words comment. Nothing has actually happened yet, only time will tell if this is a turning point in our history. I so, so hope it is!

What a bizarre club we are. At the point at which the football league is facing a major financial crisis with many clubs looking at the bleakest of futures we finally seem to have achieved some modicum of financial stability pretty much out of the blue. It's very Rovers.
Can't argue with the statement that it shows a commitment to the club. Proper money where the mouth is stuff. I'll maintain my relative scepticism and 'what have you done for me lately' attitude I think becuase its the only way fans can engage realistically with modern owners. But to say that Wael is currently passing that particularly test with flying colours would be an understatement.
We've had many false dawns but not many that have been launched off the back of this kind of financial commitment and clarity. Say what you like about poor communication and relative silence but that letter definitely demonstrated that he was fully aware of fans concerns and was prepared to engage on them. I don't think we've had people at the top of our club who have been prepared to do that for a very long time.

At the onset he did say don't expect things to appear as if by magic, this is a long term project, background and behind the scenes stuff, ,, maybe a lot of us have been waiting some 50 years plus for a "new dawn" this may be it... it certainly seems very promising,

Quite astonishing!, am reeling whilst reading, as has been said, this is soooo Rovers!, also good to see a few Boardroom appointments, Tom who we know and Karim Bey who I believe worked at the Rovers London office for a while, not sure where he is based now. I'm astonished still, I just hope the commitment and progress do not waver!... UTG!..

The "controlling interest" reference is in my opinion a strong hint of the next major story brewing. No proof, but I think that this announcement is a precursor to more parties coming on board. Who knows? We can't read this guy, apart from the irrefutable evidence that he is totally committed. No-one can doubt this now. I had a similar thought on reading the email to me. It opens the way for others to join. We'll see.

Hard to know where to start. All I'll say is that I've personally given Wael Al-Qadi my backing, and that support goes way back to Jun 18, 2020 at 11:26am. I'm still a bit stunned. Let me re-read it all again and I'll try and find a way to start whinging. On the face of it, it's going to be very difficult.

Somebody translate that please. Maybe it was my vivid imagination but I'm pretty certain that the an interest payment write off was discussed on here by various financially astute members as a 100% no go. Charging interest on the loan was certainly one of the things that really riled me. The chances of that loan being written off? Yeah, about 1%. I believe the phrase that springs to mind rhymes with "clucking bell".
