Statement Bristol Rovers Supporters Club and Bristol Rovers Presidents Club are delighted to express their complete support for Mr Al-Qadi. "This proves to us that we were right to do everything we could to destabilise the club and undermine Mr Al-Qadi at every turn. We look forward to meeting in the Wellington when it re-opens to plan our next strategic master-stroke." Regards John Malyckyj Mint stuff Lycra Boy. 😁👍

I think Mr Wael might be owed apologies from some... I lost faith in Wael and said/posted some stuff that deserves an apology. I'll make it to the man in writing or to him personally.

Calm down a bit.
This means nothing unless we are much better run the debts will soon rack up again.
From memory, in round terms, £7m became £20m in 5 years with no structural plan to address that problem.
Fair play for doing whatever he's agreed to clear those numbers down, but let's keep an eye on the future here.
Edit. I hope that Tom has found his place at the FC, he always looked like 1 person trying to do 3 jobs to me. Good luck to him in his new position.

Well if season starts in September all league 1 clubs will be struggling to not add debt.

Maybe with culling 75k a year for Hamer's services (the most expensive clearing of a leak in history), was a good start. Not sure about Karim, don't know either way, but it appears surrounding himself with trusted to him directors is a sound structure to move the club forward.

Who was it who contacted the FA a few months ago to question Wael's fit and proper persons credentials?

Its a "lansdown" moment and i think its very reassuring for us fans. I really think wael deserves some credit for doing this during very uncertain times.

It's a truly amazing development. The timing is incredible, given the circumstances.
Through action, that he himself speaks louder than words, he has put all the previous doubts and concerns to bed.
No-one in our history has invested these sums before, so to quote the Chancellor, these really are unprecedented times.
The internal dynamics of the family has liberated him and we seem to be dealing with a new man.
Let's not lose sight of the clear objectives that he has set out though.

The "controlling interest" reference is in my opinion a strong hint of the next major story brewing.
No proof, but I think that this announcement is a precursor to more parties coming on board.
Who knows? We can't read this guy, apart from the irrefutable evidence that he is totally committed. No-one can doubt this now.

Well done Weal.

Well done Weal. One person has a significant investment and sole control of the club. We had virtually no external debt anyway, and what there was remains. It's what happens from here that's of interest.

Geoff Dunford often said in private that Bristol Rovers had never cost him a penny. Wael has just stated publicly that he has just invested more into Bristol Rovers than any director or collectively directors in the clubs history.
There is little chance that he will ever see a penny back, in fact he will need a whole lot more so thank you and good luck Wael, nobody can ever knock your financial commitment to our great club.
I would still like to see the club run in a sustainable manner and I expect Wael's bank balance will say the same this evening.

Well maybe I'm a bit giddy tonight. Last time I posted here was after going to an Exeter match in January and noting how we were, as I saw it, being left behind. What I've been reading tonight about the actions taken by Wael is remarkable and maybe, just maybe, things are turning.
Really, to agree to any level of financial commitment to a lower league football club is a brave thing to do. To do that in the midst of a pandemic with no idea of when you can start playing again, let alone have paying customers in the ground, well, it shows at the very least a commitment that takes the breath away.
Why at the age of 55, miles away in the Surrey Hills, am I excited and just a tiny bit emotional. It can't all be down to the Cotes du Rhone. Can it?
