so, a quick status update:- unified management team - tick support organisations, er, rationalised - tick Mem improved a bit, where it has been cheap to do - tick retain top youngsters for next year - tick new manager played himself in - tick training ground to facilitate new manager's playing style - tick coming soon what's not to like? Number 5 ☹️ I'm still enthusiastic about him. Yes, I'm the one! And you might be unamazed to find that I'm not generally known for my footballing judgement. We'll see...

Go on then, I'll take the bait Mr Happy. 1. unified management team. A relatively simple task given that there are only 2 Board members left and a totally unproven manager to "unify". 2. support organisations, er, rationalised. The Supporters Club is openly at war with the current owners and there appears to be no solution to this on-going self-harm. 3. Mem improved a bit, where it has been cheap to do. The Bar improvements have been paid for by Thatchers. A no brainer, perhaps showing up the previous owner as a man with a small brain. 4. retain top youngsters for next year. So we've retained cheap youngsters. Duh. 5. new manager played himself in. Ben Garner is statistically the worst manager in the history of Bristol Rovers FC. 6. training ground to facilitate new manager's playing style - a training ground that it now transpires we could have started work on 3 years ago. As for facilitating the 'manager's playing style' - if you could remind me what that actually is - that would be great. Whatever it is, it doesn't work. 7. what's not to like? Blind optimism that ignores the previous 5 years total incompetence. Yes, we've had 5 years what a surprise, 5 years stuck on my eyes.

Dont know why BG is talking about our non league days in this interview?, surely we have moved on from that?, I prefer our more recent history of us knocking on the door of the playoff spots of L1, far more relevant, I want to like BG, but he sure know's how to get me riled!.

I flinched at that too. It was literally days compared to the rest of our history and is no benchmark.

I don't think he's said anything remotely controversial there. It's a perfectly reasonable interview. It's also thoroughly unsurprising and unenlightening.
The only point to be made is that he will no longer be able to use the training ground issue as an excuse for poor results from next season. Successive managers have griped about this when going through a bad run. He's been hired to be this great developer of young talent - now we see if he can actually do it or not. My issue with Garner has never really been Garner - my issue is that he was hired with this brief in the first place when we could have appointed a veteran manager to see out the season and then changed tack if it didn't work out. I've always thought Garner was just doing the job he's been hired to do - it's just not a job that made any sense to me from a football point of view.

With some more experience under our belt. It is a reason to be hopeful again

My understanding is that Wael learned about Ben on a forum, so you may as well nominate his successor on here.

Despite what has been said previously, the Colony site is not owned by Bristol Rovers, and yet it has been reported that money has already been spent by BRFC on the land? It will, therefore, be interesting to see who will be paying the bills for the improvements that have been reported will be made, and the buildings that will be built, and what, if any, rent will be paid to the owner/s of the land?

Surely WAQ will sack BG if we go on a say a 5 match without a win? After Southend away, where some Gas had had enough long before the end and had vacated their seats, I'm convinced BG had and does have a free hit this season and next. Some things have been unacceptable for a while, but now it's become the norm. ....and you still have folk saying it'll come good based on nothing but their own optimism instead of evidence led postings!

My understanding is that Wael learned about Ben on a forum, so you may as well nominate his successor on here. I was'nt calling for his sacking then just asking would WAQ actually sack him if the awful form returned? At one point I wanted him replaced by Cheltenham Towns manager,Michael Duff.I thought him the perfect GC replacement.
