Players around the country refusing to play in case they get injured and it scuppers new deals, which presumably they've already agreed with other clubs.
So now the teams that take the field to finish the season aren't going to be the ones that would have played had there of been no suspension of play.
What a mess.
Wait for the legal challenges to come in when things go wrong for clubs who voted against playing remaining fixtures.

"Players around the country refusing to play"
Surely that's a gross misconduct, isn't it?

"Players around the country refusing to play" Surely that's a gross misconduct, isn't it? Not if the season gets extended past the end of their contract or loan period I shouldn't think? I wouldn't try to defend that at a tribunal, in fact, I wouldn't let that get to a tribunal. Not looked at each case, but there may be something about not having proper / normal pre-competitive match training as well?

Given no idea about what will happen next year, will be interesting how new contracts are written. 12 month contract now with no idea when next season may end, so same issues may apply next season, if that ever happens.

"Players around the country refusing to play" Surely that's a gross misconduct, isn't it? I don't know the employment laws of the land but apparently you can lose 5% of your lung capacity if you're unlucky enough on contracting Cov19. 'Abit s**t' for a professional athlete.I imagine e that trumps any contract waving employment lawyer potentially hired by a Chairman or two.

Yes makes sense and understand both what you said and BG (not Ben Garner!), which is probably more likely that contracts technically might have expired. If the emphasis is on the club to act as duty of care to its employees, it's important to establish whom is responsible if not only their health but also their earning potential can be damaged incase of the threat of litigation hangs? Which shifts the emphasis of whom is choosing to play out matches: club or governing body. It's opened up a can of worms..

Three young players signing new deals this week as well as young players already on longish deals signed by garner before. A clear strategy with the emphasis on youth and affordability. Probably the only realistic way for the club to go so i am prepared to support this policy. I also think the loan market will be more heavily used at every club including rovers when the next season begins.

Not wishing to disagree, but loaning premier League Wunderkinden doesn't seem to work for us. A couple of the goalies have been OK, but far too often they warm the bench, you might as well have our own kids around the first team, surely you are more likely to succeed from our own Youth team and Academy if you can see the realistic prospect of first team football.

As my post points out we are signing permanent players of young age like barrett, harries and daly as well as renewing the contracts of kelly, menayese and hargreaves. I just feel that post virus football may well include more loan signings on relatively poor wages. Regarding garners loans blackman and lawson looked really value in my view.

Clubs in our league depending on youth and other clubs' cast offs opens the way for some clubs to buy their way into the Championship. There will still be rich businessmen after the pandemic willing to buy players in and pay the wages. It has always thus been so, but the more clubs on a low budget the easier it becomes to buy promotion. (Coventry last night were linked with a player in Holland for over £1M, according to Rumour Control.)

Genuine question - but from what I'm seeing most clubs seem to be carrying on fairly normally in this regard.
Hard to see what you do with the basic problem of players contracts running down. I can see the point of the guy from Charlton - why would you risk injury if you weren't obligated to and had the biggest payday of your career on the horizon? An even bigger issue for League 1 clubs I'd have thought.

No contract agreement with Sercs. Cost cutting. You might think Sercombe is a BG type of player.

No contract agreement with Sercs. I thought he had another year remaining anyway?
No issue for me - I don't think he's been the same player since he was injured at the start of last season.

Rovers will have some idea of the retained list and now the voting is over could release it soon.
At least Anssi is fit.
