Once we get out of this sh##fest, what's apparent is a lot of people are missing live televised sport, with football being top pick. I loathe the bloated obscene Premier League model and where possible try to avoid any form of endorsement.
So if we get away from kids earning 'tens of thousands' and in some cases 'hundreds of thousands' and with Sky Sports bankrolling this product and the enormous cost to watch either at ground or on pay to view channels. We are also well aware that this exclusive 'fat cat' club don't give a damn about League 1 and League 2 clubs.
I would hazard a guess 50% of football enthusiasts equally, don't care for much for the Premier League's 'carve up' Nevertheless, the 'thirst' of watching a live game is still there (some that desperate will even resort to watching games without fans or atmosphere) So with no live sport available we have turned to the likes of Netflix as form of cathartic release.
So what's the answer when we finally commence the next new season next autumn? To coin a Jeremy Clarkson expression 'Here's what I think' what if terrestrial channels i.e. C4 C5 Itv2 etc were to show live matches of League 1 and 2 games, I truely believe they would give Sky Sports and Bt Sports etc a run for their money, and we get our football fix and our clubs would get some decent paydays and national exposure to boot!
For that reason albeit somewhat a 'David and Gorlith' battle I reckon David will hold his own!

I'd prefer to be at the actual games, but can see the attraction of televised games on a cold, wet January Saturday!

I don't disagree with you at all - A season ticket is a prerequisite as nothing beats the real match day experience. However, all things being equal, the additional income and media exposure for L1 and L2 televised games say on a Sunday/Monday/Thursday for FREE is a no brainer. Pubs who do not pay want to pay rip off fees to Sky and BT can show games for zilch- There are a hell of a lot of pubs out there not showing live football because of the cost and I would suggest games such as Saltford City v Middlesbrough/ Plymouth v Gas & Portsmouth v Sunderland would have more appeal than say Norwich v Leicester / Watford v Southampton & Burnley v Bournemouth - Just Saying!

Nothing will change
Business will still see through...the supply/demand culture will always exist, thus a capitalist society ethos will dominate.
It's just the way it's been for centuries.
I disagree with the premise league 1&2 can make a massive difference. A small impact, certainly in interim, but I'm afraid Bristol Rovers are a small commodity in the cogwheel of football and we'll be sold out for more gains of Premiership, Championship, Euros and bigger clubs.
We're lucky in resources that some other clubs don't have, but in tge sling shot of football, we are hardly David. More like David's crippled, blind thalidomide brother/sister with acrophobia...

Don’t watch mutch live football on TV, over exuberance from mediocre presentation is very off putting and the likes of Shearer Lineker who just love the sound of their overpriced voices do my head in, I “put up “with the annoying crap that Glen Hoddle spouts during some England games and at times just turn the sound off , so annoying

Didn't see Dominic Cummings there, he has no football affiliation as far as I'm aware. But if I saw him, I'd buy him a pint. Just for winding up the grauniad readers Happy Windass Day to you, Sir.

Don't be ridiculous - Billericay is far too close to his home I initially thought you meant my home, not Mr Cummings. Please take a bit more care with your punctuation. As for Billericay, Glenn Tamplin's moved on to Romford. Not sure what Ricay have done with the bizarre mural though... Attachment Deleted

My own experience has been awful buffering and lack of commentary but also complete blackouts. I have the ultra speedy virgin fibre broadband and that makes no difference. It’s been done to death on Twitter & the consensus is that is seems to depend upon where you live but that it’s a pretty poor product. I cancelled fairly quickly but not without argument. what has been your experience in your area ?

how did you get that past epping's Guardian-articles-trigger-the-swear-filter setting? Unless you subscribe to this on line 'paper', you can't read the full article anyway... Maybe one one of our left-leaning, pro-EU, anti-Tory posters could copy and paste it for us? Thanks in advance comrades.

Am I missing some deliberate irony, or are you the last person in the country to realise that it's the only 'quality' free broadsheet nowadays?
