Gaslady says - Swap Shop, Rupert Bear, Bod, Pugwash, Jackanory, Pipkins, Sooty, Lizzy Dripping and Roobarb. Hartley Hare from Pipkins looks like road kill. A lot of the stuff from back then really wasn't child friendly by today's standards.

My real Dr Who was Tom Baker 1974-1981, the longest serving and best Dr until David Tennant came along, who was his equal.

Bad news about Mr Benn. He decided to be a spaceman and go on an adventure to the moon, but whilst he was there the shopkeeper died of a heart attack and couldn't bring him back. Benn's remains were found years later by NASA astronauts, they brought his spaceship back to earth and are still trying to work out how he managed to travel 250,000 miles in the thing.

I remember watching Jon Pertwee's last episode when he regenerated into Tom Baker. It was our first day with a new colour telly, this in itself I found pretty mindblowing, but when I saw Pertwee turn into Baker, 10 year old me just couldn't get my head around it! To this day, I still think of Tom Baker as the 'new' Doctor.

All others relied on gimmicks/totty to distract from the fact they were being out-acted by the daleks.

I didnt have the courage to lean across and say you helped me through a difficult period (phnaar phnaar) so I made do with discrete ogling instead. My girlfriend sat on the other side was not happy😁
