I think the why is as interesting as who here right? I've had a few over the years.
Currently it's FC United who have I adopted since moving moving to Mancunia. There is much to admire about what they have managed to achieve and the principles they stick to but, putting all that side, the atmosphere they create is pretty much 2nd to none and they are about the only surviving example of fan culture that doesn't take itself too seriously. As their fan slogan goes 'FC United - a great bunch of guys and a right bunch of dicks'. I was an original ABU (anyone but United) when I was growing up so this has been a surprise turn for me. They are my only real '2nd' club.
I also have a softspot for Bohemians Prague - another great fan experience if anyone's ever there and they are a gloriously eccentric football club - Real Betis and Celtic. Clearly I have a thing for green. I'll say this quietly in case Epping is listening but I also like Hertha Berlin due to a formative trip I took to the City when I was 18.
As a kid the first team I liked was Oxford United because yellow was my favourite (very glad I got over that one!). Then I got into following Liverpool and definitely qualified as an armchair fan. Glad I got over that too and by 2002 I definitely had because I remember surprising myself by not being very bothered about their treble winning 2001 team. This means I was a Liverpool fan between 1992 and 2000 when they were actually pretty terrible - this surely makes me the most unsuscessful glory hunter of all time!
I like AMPG's idea of liking teams.
Why I oughtta... Good documentary about the first top tier Berlin derby here if you haven't seen it. "Lively" sort of covers it. Yes - and I'm fully aware, and not entirely comfortable with the fact, that I am in the 'bad guys' camp on this one!

Everton. Goes back to the 60s. And now I seem to like the “blue” half of most towns and cities, and most of them are underdogs in those places. UTG!

Leeds...In the early 70s everyone hated them in our school for being dirty cheats so me and my mate decided to be different. From that it just grew very slowly and we realised they were really good and people said we only supported them because they were top of the league. We then got all the kit..the yellow away strip and the garters with the numbers on them! We loved all that poncy stuff with the fact they were hard as nails. 73/74..Rovers and Leeds unbeaten until February😁😁😁. 75 European Cup Final..worst night of my young life😭!!Still check for results and hope they get back to premier one day (maybe next year!!)

Torquay as they are the local-est "large" team to me. I also look out for Exeter results as they are close by.
I know that`s a bit like supporting Rovers but also wanting City to do well, but meh.

Never had a second team but I am always interested in the games & results of both England & Poland at international level. I stay indoors if they ever play each other. Why stay indoors? Went to England Poland 2005 at Old Trafford, Polish supporters filled one end and made a right racket, England won 2-1 but everything outside after was good natured. I have bad memories of getting a hiding when England drew v Poland , I think 72. Poland went onto get third place but it has been Said that the German players said Poland were the better side but the pitch was so waterlogged that the ball just stopped in puddles of water and it nullified a very pacy Polish front line.

Proper blood and thunder game Peter Lorimer had probably the hardest shot in the game at the time - he used to take penalties and some free kicks by toe-punting them, an expert one too. One penalty kick was recorded to have reached 107 mph...my fav 2nd team is West Ham United, has been since the 1975 fa cup final v Fulham and Bobby Moore.

The team that beat us 2-1 at home in the penultimate home game of the L2 relegation season and came down with us.
Torquay United
