Sam at the Post says this today - which agrees that there aren't any 'discussions' currently, but seems to think it's still very much alive... 'Are the negotiations with the fruit market now on hold?' Sam's reply: I'm sure many Gasheads are thinking the same thing, Joe. Essentially, no, because the face to face negotiating took place in September and October so now it’s the hands of lawyers. Obviously the current situation has complicated matters and I’m not sure exactly the process of how and when documents can be signed off but talks remain open and there is confidence that a deal will still be reached. The word is from our sources is there has been progress but, as you’ve realised by now, this is a long, complicated and drawn-out process and that’s before we even get into the subject of purchasing Rovers. Unless the two local business man are connected to the FM development then why would they join the board just as we're apparently about to be sold? Does anybody know why they didn't join the board, the club's or their own decision not to join? more from Sam today: Do you know anything about the rumours of two leading Bristol businessmen being proposed as appointments to the board very recently, and then having the proposals pulled the very next day Sam? Sam's reply: Great question, Tom, and we understand at least half of that is correct in terms of there were individuals proposed to join Wael Al-Qadi and Martyn Starnes on the board. We’re not sure how far down the line that got, but they’re no longer under consideration.

Shouldn't they be described as "unlucky Bristol businessmen" if they are "no longer under consideration" for this honour ?

The word is from our sources is there has been progress but, as you’ve realised by now, this is a long, complicated and drawn-out process and that’s before we even get into the subject of purchasing Rovers. You know there are times when I wish we had a much better understanding of what was going on behind the scenes and that the club was more open with the fans etc...And other times when I'm thankful that I live in ignorance of most of it most of the time. Is that being too honest?
Sure I would like to live in a World in which fans view on such goings on mattered and the club took some vague interest and consideration of what we think. Maybe even to the extent that we could have some direct influence over decision making. But this kind of thing shows that we're so far from that being a reality now that we really are just tilting at windmills. Swiss might put me right on that view though I suppose.
I mean IF this is true - and you'd hope that a journalist being confident enough to report on it means that there is at least something going on here - then it sounds unbelievably complicated and tedious and full of pitfalls at every turn.
Tedious doesn’t even begin to cover it. It’s getting on for a year since all this game up and there seems to be no real tangible progress. I know these deals don’t happen overnight but Christ, this is like pulling teeth. In many ways I just want to hear that it’s over so we can focus on something else. As it is the ITK have all gone quiet and it’s only the post, not even the BBC anymore, who are still keeping this rumour alive. As such I struggle to believe it.

Perhaps one of them was so rotund that they couldn’t find a clown suit that would fit so he would look out of place not wearing the typical uniform for a a Rovers board meeting.

£16.2m owed to Dwane Don't know what the £4.4m other creditors is likely made up of VAT, PAYE? these are the usual death knells for football clubs, I think, but this seems far too big a number for a business with our turnover and staff costs - unless we are ages and ages behind?
