Well, this is what we've all been waiting for. I thought seeing Sumo on skybet was exciting and was going to go with most syllables in a surname theory, but right now thats a distant second.
Does anybody know if we have any professional gamers?
The draw is tomorrow and games will be live on YouTube.
1st round prefrances?
Imagine, city at the mem and a last minute winner.

V southend. Not sure when it's on YouTube yet. What is all this? Fans playing FIFA on behalf of their Clubs? In the absence of any real football to watch... this could catch on...

Orient started it on twitter asking for 64 teams, it was instantly so popular that it's now 128 teams. The games are going to be on YouTube I believe, its a great idea, we actually have a chance of winning something. The draw on twitter was hilarious, "Adelaide v Wolves", "Not an easy trip on a Tuesday night". It's British clubs, with a few overseas, 2 from Australia, and few European. Swindon are actually at Benfica, I think orient drew spartak Moscow. Skybet are going to open a book on it. I want to find out who are player is, not that he's under any pressure!!

So the closest we have come to a European tie (even when it's on the bloody playstation)... is that coin flip loss to West Ham in the Anglo-Italian Cup in 1992...

Southend were in Group 8 of the Anglo Italian Cup, same as us & Hammers. That damned coin-toss!, I had my bags packed ready for the trip to Tuscany!...ha ha, gone but not forgotten!.

This has led me to look up the Anglo-Italian Cup on Wiki. What a gloriously barmpot concept that was! What I didn't know is that it had many iterations stretching back, on and off, to the 70s including a period in the late 70s/early 80s when it was a semi-professional competition. During that period Bath City managed to get to the final twice, losing on both occasions. Incredibly on the second occasion they lost to the comparative giants of Udinese! How on earth did anyone ever devise a competition in which it made since for the final to be between Bath City and Udinese?! Sounds like the kind of thing that happens if you let Championship Manager run for 200 season. But I suppose that means Bath City have a considerably more impressive European record than we do.......
More importantly why can't we have completely random stuff like that anymore? Let's have a shadow Champions League involving League 1, the Spanish 3rd Tier, the Turkish equivalent of the Conference and 4 qualifiers from a park league in Prague!

Totally!, The competition failed to capture much enthusiasm and interest, I think we only managed a gate of 3,000 for the Southend game. Our 2-2 draw with Hammers against players, Julian Dicks, Clive Allen, Martin Allen to name a few!. I was well into the tourney at the time!.

Looks like the lack of 'big' sides getting to the final might also have dampened interest... Cremonese / Derby, Brescia / Notts County, Notts County / Ascoli, Genoa / Port Vale. Yup, Port Vale. That killed it.

That killed it. Indeed, one leg in Italy drew a crowd of 800 which was a record low attendance for an 'International' probably Vale!...

A West Ham friend of mine at work at the time went down for Cremonese fixture. I think he made the extra effort because he knew how pissed off I was about the coin flip.

Our game is on twitch TV at 7pm tmrw.
I will post all details tmrw, I haven't used twitch before but I'm advised it's simple, go to website, and put in our players username and watch Rovers attempt to get into the 2nd rd and maybe draw one of the big boys.

Streaming starts at 6:30pm and the quarunteam game is on at 7pm. I have this information from Daniel himself. My son will be pissing himself with the old man in a live streaming Playstation FIFA chatroom.

Southend are 2/5, maybe they have a pro player. Could be backs to the wall. Guess we have penalties if draw after 12 mins, I think its 6 mins each half

Conceded 3 and ended up losing 3-1.
